Oh, God, no. Anything but that. “I’m sorry, sweetheart. We don’t have to.”
Izzy shook his head, then buried his face against Remi’s shoulder. His voice came out small. “I want to, Daddy. It’s just that if I see you again, it’s going to be so much harder to say goodbye. And I have to go on–” he gave an odd sort of gasping, hiccupping sound “–an airplane and be far away.”
Remi looked around frantically for a rock to sit on, then pulled Izzy down into his lap. He was sitting uncomfortably on Izzy’s rock collection, but it didn’t matter. “Oh, sweetheart. It’s going to be hard for me to say goodbye, too. Now or Friday.” Or any time really. There was no way he could get enough of this boy. “But I was thinking that maybe we could… store up some more good memories. For you to take back with you to Boston.” His chest ached just saying it, but it was the best he could do.
Izzy looked up at him, his pale lashes gleaming wetly. “I’d like that, Daddy. We have to keep all the memories.” He cupped his hands together into a little ball, like he was holding something precious inside.
Thank God. Remi decided to press his advantage while he was ahead. “We will, baby boy. We’ll make all the good memories. And maybe since Tommy’s staying with Brick, you could stay with me? You could see Tommy every day. And we could invite him over with his Daddy. Maybe have a slumber party?”
Izzy nodded eagerly. “A slumber party with movies and popcorn and M&M’s?”
“Of course. Movies and popcorn and M&M’s. With a pillow fort.” Anything, anything to get Izzy to agree.
“A pillow fort! Please, Daddy, can I have a pillow fort? I want that memory.”
Remi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry himself. Instead, he settled for covering Izzy’s face with kisses, trying to memorize the softness of the skin around his eyes, the rough scratch where his adorably blond beard. The pale color of his hair made it even cuter.
When he reached Izzy’s lips, he was a goner. He had to taste his mouth, to own all of the soft whimpers tumbling out of it, to tangle their tongues together until they were both breathless. And still, he didn’t stop. He gripped Izzy’s hair, devouring him with teeth and lips until Izzy was limp and clinging in his arms.
Another five days. It seemed like a miracle.
“Izzy,” he said roughly when he broke away. “I have a very important job for you.”
Eager slate-blue eyes gazed up at him. Izzy looked dazed and happy, aroused and absolutely destroyed by his kisses. “Is it helping Daddy’s cock feel better? Because it was poking me again and I’m very good at that.”
Remi threw back his head and laughed. Izzy seemed to love pointing out whenever Daddy was poking him, which was pretty much all the time. “We’ll do that upstairs.”
“Now, Daddy?” Izzy whined. “I just need you so much.”
“In our room.” Some hikers had passed them on the trail and he wasn’t going to risk any of them coming back. “No, I have a much more important job. I need you to find the two most special rocks. One for me and one for you. And we’re going to keep all of our memories in them.”
“Ooooohhhh…” Izzy’s eyes grew wide. “I can do that.”
Remi gave Izzy a gentle push to stand, then looped his arms around him from behind. Izzy poured over the gray stones, his pert little ass nudging Remi’s very pokey dick with every wiggle. But Izzy didn’t even seem to notice. He’d lined up half a dozen nearly indistinguishable choices, the flat, gray color dulled even further now that they were dry.
Finally, he made his selection. “This one is for you, Daddy. Because it looks like a little sleepy dinosaur.”
Maybe, if you squinted hard and already knew what to look for. He cradled it carefully in his hand. “It’s adorable, sweetheart.” He gave the rock a kiss where he imagined its head might be.
Izzy beamed. “And this one is mine, because it looks like a tree, and I met you when we were hiking in the trees.” Remi could at least see the resemblance to a triangle with this one.
“They’re both perfect. Now we have to put all of our memories into them.”
Izzy closed his eyes, clearly thinking hard. He looked happy. Then radiant.
Remi had planned to shut his own eyes, but he couldn’t look away.
Izzy lifted his cupped hands to his lips and blew into them. After a long moment, he opened his eyes. Then he scowled at Remi. “You havta blow, too.”
“Of course.” Remi tried to think of every happy thing they’d done, but there were just too many to list, and Izzy kept coming up with more. Finally, he lifted the little rock to his lips and exhaled across it.
“Good job, Daddy. Now let’s go!”
Remi laughed again. He slipped the almost-dino into his pocket when Izzy started dragging him up the trail, clearly intending to get them both into his bedroom as quickly as possible.
Five more days.
