The two of them were gorgeous together. Not just Ash’s lithe form and delicate features that made such a contrast to Zhong’s musculature. But the clear delight that they took in each other. The easy way they moved together.

As the morning passed into afternoon, Landon joined them in the back and the trellis construction project got underway. That made it even harder to concentrate, because now both Landon and Zhong were walking around shirtless, holding beams in place and using power tools. Ash skipped between them, taking photos, occasionally helping, and mostly looking cute.

Finishing up his work for the day was a chore. The second he sent off one last project flow chart, he closed his computer and headed downstairs.

He found the other three cleaning up with the hose. Landon splashed some of the cool water onto his face and chest, then passed it off to Ash. The moment Landon saw Dustin, though, he ran over.

Dustin greeted him with a thorough kiss, drinking in Landon’s happiness and the beauty of the day. He dragged greedy hands along Landon’s sun-warmed skin, enjoying the contrast of the cool water. He smelled like rich soil, clean sweat, and summertime.

I missed you today, he said when Landon finally pulled back.

I missed you, too, Landon agreed, sneaking in for another kiss.

How was your day? Did you finish the trellis?

Today was great. I’ve mostly given up on the summer school curriculum to focus on what my kids need, so today went much better. And we’ve got everything staked to the trellis! I’ve never grown squash before, but I’m already thinking about zucchini recipes. We’ll probably have too many to know what to do with.

How about you? Did you get things straightened out with Nitya?

Dustin shrugged. Somewhat? The rest of the summer is going to be difficult. I’m just grateful every day that I have you to look forward to in the evening. I’ve been thinking about you all day. There are so many things I want to do with you…

Landon ran a seductive hand down Dustin’s shirt, leaving a trail of arousal in its wake. Yes, please. Don’t forget any of them. You’ll need to save them for later.

Why would I save them for later? Dustin asked, amused. Oh, wait. Are we having another game night? He made a face. He’d loved game nights before because it meant Zhong came over, but honestly, they’d already had two this week and Zhong and Ash were already here. It was a bit much.

Landon laughed. No, no game night. Promise. Something better.

Oh?

Yep. Ash and I are going to have a spa night. Which means that you and Zhong get to go on a date.

Dustin blinked. He looked over at Zhong. He’d picked up Ash and was spinning them around in circles. The two of them looked blissfully happy together. He didn’t want to intrude on that.

And… a date? What would that even mean? He hadn’t even known that his best friend wanted to go on dates until a handful of months ago. They shared something meaningful and enjoyed doing a lot of things together. But… a date?

Zhong sank to the bench of the picnic table, Ash still in his arms. They both looked dizzy, but they were grinning at each other. That was what Zhong’s dates looked like, right?

Dustin’s dates out with Landon were usually either visiting a nice restaurant before an intimate night at home, or a few recent forays to Escape to either watch or engage in a scene for the rotating audience.

He watched Zhong give Ash a kiss on the forehead, and then they wandered over to where Dustin was standing with Landon near the porch steps.

Ready for spa night? Ash asked.

Absolutely, Landon replied. Want to order a pizza?

Wow. So they were really doing this. Ash and Landon were going to do their own thing, intentionally, with full knowledge, leaving Dustin to go on a date with Zhong.

For some reason, Dustin was actually nervous.

Yes! Pizza. Bye, Daddy! Ash gave Zhong a squeeze and then slipped past Dustin into the house.

Landon gave Dustin a dirty, breathless kiss, drawing his mind back to all sorts of delicious possibilities for when he had his boy all to himself later… all of which were completely inappropriate for the moment in front of him.

You’re such a brat, Dustin told him affectionately.

Have fun! Landon waved to both of them and disappeared into the house.

So… Dustin’s hands wavered uneasily as he tried to figure out what to say. Did they just decide that we’re going on a date?
