While that conclusion had come quickly, if somewhat uncomfortably, the other parts were harder. Could Neil imagine being in a relationship with Jamie and Sebastian… while Jamie was dating someone else? Would he feel, like Jamie and Sebastian had about Henri, that he wasn’t enough? The details of that, and his reaction to it, were more hazy.
Could he see the three of them doing a scene together with a fourth person? He couldn’t imagine where all of the arms and legs would go but… maybe? It seemed unnecessary and complex to him. On the other hand, if it would make Jamie happy, he decided he’d be willing to try.
But what if Jamie wanted to go on a date on his own? His instant response was more confusion than rejection. What would it even be like? The best Neil could do was imagine Sebastian kissing Jamie goodbye and telling him to have fun. A few hours later, Jamie would come back, sex-rumpled and glowing. He would climb into his Daddy’s lap and tell him that he loved him.
And if Neil was with Sebastian while all that was happening… Well, it mostly came back to Jamie being happy. He’d told Jamie passionately that he believed both of them had enough love for multiple people. It was just that certain configurations of it were easier to see than others.
Neil knew that his own attraction to Jamie didn’t diminish his attraction to Sebastian or vice versa. In fact, it enhanced it. So if Jamie wanted that with more people, Neil was pretty sure he could handle it. It wouldn’t be the first thing he would choose, but he was almost certain he could make it work.
Which all meant that he was… polyflexible. A new identity that he hadn’t even known he needed, but made so much sense when it was Sebastian and Jamie’s faces that he pictured.
Fuck, he was getting ahead of himself. Maybe they just wanted to talk about finances, like he’d offered on the phone.
Or maybe they wanted him.
Sebastian had called him Cricket. Jamie had shown him their secret meadowlark song. That had to mean something, right?
He cruised through silent streets and then onto the highway, making excellent time at the late hour. He didn’t even switch on the radio, just watched the trees in the moonlight. It was beyond late, past one a.m., but he felt energized in that nervous, excited way that everything about the couple seemed to bring out in him.
Inside, his heart was beating fast. Jamie. Sebastian. Jamie. Sebastian.
When he arrived, the glowing lights of the atrium felt like coming home. He opened his car door to crickets singing a rhythmic lullaby in the crisp night. It felt like they were welcoming him.
A moment later, Jamie and Sebastian stepped outside.
They’d been waiting for him and that felt… amazing. Hopeful.
Sebastian reached him first, tugging at his beard to tilt his head up for a thorough kiss that had him whimpering. He loved the way that Sebastian used the hair at his chin to tug him wherever he wanted him. With just his tongue and the commanding grip of his fingers, Sebastian had him feeling completely owned.
When Sebastian stepped away to collect Neil’s suitcase from the trunk, Jamie took his place. He was all exuberance and passion, kissing Neil again and again while laughing in between. Neil clung to him, running his fingers up over Jamie’s thin t-shirt and then under it because he just couldn’t get enough of Jamie’s smooth, warm muscles.
He came up for air when Sebastian crowded in behind him, leaving him completely enveloped by the two of them. Neil’s insides melted into something warm and gooey. Jamie and Sebastian still wanted him. Maybe not forever, but even if he got to extend their fling just a little bit further, he wanted to grab every moment of it with both hands.
Jamie yawned and suddenly he could see the exhaustion on his face.
“You’re tired,” Neil told him gently. “I shouldn’t have kept you up.”
“Not as tired as Daddy,” Jamie replied. “He’s barely been sleeping at all.”
Neil turned in their grip. Sebastian looked haggard, the bags under his eyes a bruised purple. His lips tightened at Jamie’s words, like he didn’t want Jamie to say it or Neil to hear it.
Or maybe like it was Neil’s fault for keeping him awake when it was clearly already such a stressful time for both of them.
Or maybe because this was just a fling, and none if it was Neil’s business.
Something passed over Sebastian’s face that Neil couldn’t understand, and then he just let himself look tired. Neil hated seeing him so exhausted, but it meant a lot that Sebastian was letting him see him that way, as a person rather than just a symbolic Dom.
Sebastian stepped back to grab Neil’s luggage, which he already knew better than to try to claim. “I think we all need some sleep,” Sebastian told them both in that deep Daddy voice that had Neil turned inside out. “Into bed, both of you.”
“Yes, Daddy,” Jamie smiled sweetly. “As long as you come, too.”
Sebastian snorted at the instruction.
Did that imply that Neil was coming with them? He was maybe ninety-nine percent sure that was the plan, but he didn’t want to assume. It was a hotel, after all. They had plenty of beds.
“Ummm…” Neil started, still not sure how to say it. “I drew up some financial plans that we could go over. I think there are a few workable options that I could help out with.” He tried not to mumble the last few words, because they were the crux of it: they could only do this with his help, and he wasn’t sure if it was wanted.
If he could at least know which one they wanted, if any of them at all… well, that would tell him everything that he needed to know, all at once.
