Levi scanned the couch again. It would be fun to sit there right now, just to torment them both, but their relationship was too important to risk. He took the chair that was closer to the desk. “So, what are you thinking?”
“First, that I need to talk to Javier as soon as possible. I thought he’d be in today, but he apparently won’t be back till after New Years.”
“Ugh.”
“Well, it might be better to not have this all break while most of the staff is on vacation. I don’t want it to look sneaky.”
“Good point. But it’s a long time to hide it.”
“You’re impatient, boy.”
Levi nodded. Was he ever. He wanted everyone to know.
“Alright,” he summarized. “So Javier comes back next Thursday or whatever. And then there will probably be lots of discussions and policy drafts and an official announcement that has been desiccated of any possible juicy details, so that’ll be a few more weeks. Got it. What else?”
“Baby, did I ever tell you how much I admire that you can switch so easily from being my adorable boy to a responsible colleague who can think things through with me?”
Levi felt himself blush. One of his exes had complained about exactly this—that he broke character sometimes, as if being Daddy’s boy were some sort of play he was acting out. He knew he’d mentioned it, but he hadn’t expected Saul to remember it.
“Thank you, Daddy. That means a lot to me.”
“It means a lot to me, too. Whatever we decide, we should decide together. In the office we’re equals. Or, you know, within the office hierarchy.”
Levi nodded. He hadn’t even considered any alternatives.
“So I was thinking that… for very short periods, with the door shut… we could talk to each other this way. But that’s it. Just talk. No...” He gestured vaguely into the space between them.
“No dirty blowjobs under your desk while you’re taking a call? Got it.”
Saul laughed.
“And if we should find ourselves here together, debugging an error for six hours with nobody else around…”
“Then we are going to be responsible employees.”
Levi wrinkled his nose.
“By which I mean that you will be an incorrigible flirt and I will make sure that you get a spanking when we get home.”
Alright, Levi could live with that.
“I may also have to make sure that you’re locked up so that you can be a good boy for me.”
“Oooooh. Daddy, you have the best ideas.”
“Well, if we’re going to come into the office to work, I need to make sure that you’re focused.”
As if. But it was a fun idea. So, small flirty things were OK behind closed doors, but flirting was pretty much the limit. “What about around friends? Or if the staff goes out for drinks?”
“Then I think you can be my boyfriend, but with a respectful level of PDA. We won’t be keeping it a secret. And if we see colleagues at a munch or play party, we’ll treat it like we would with anyone else we know from outside.”
Whew. That would have been even harder than managing things at work. Levi opened his mouth to ask his next question, but Saul beat him to it.
“Christy would be an exception, I believe.”
“Yeah, um, if that’s OK. She already knows about the spanking. And, uh, the only reason that she doesn’t have all the details about the phone call yesterday was because I wanted to talk to you first.”
“Good grief. And I have to stand in front of her at meetings?”
