He carried it out to the table where Tate had cleared off a space on one side of his laptop.
“Very nice, baby.” Was it weird that he glowed with praise for doing a simple task that he’d done millions of times before for himself? It wasn’t even like he’d cooked. The words filled him with pride anyway.
“Please get me a glass of water and get yourself either some water or seltzer. No liquified sugar during lunch.”
Adam groaned theatrically but cut it off when Tate mock-glared at him. He really did like soda, but he liked Tate taking care of him even more. “Yes, Sir. Um… should I get some plates and silverware, too?”
“The glasses will be fine, sweetheart.”
Adam chose seltzer for himself and set the glasses on the table.
“Now go get one of the pillows from the bedroom and bring it over here.”
Adam had a pretty good idea of what was going to happen next, and he almost tripped over himself in his rush to get the pillow.
“Walk, boy.”
Adam slowed his steps, but he was grinning from ear to ear.
He placed the pillow on the floor to the side of Tate’s chair and stood tall, presenting himself. He thought he was supposed to look demure and calm, but even with his head tilted down, he was grinning and maybe bouncing a little bit.
Tate let out a warm laugh. “Come on over, Little Star.” His voice was indulgent and adoring.
Adam dove for the pillow, only slightly stumbling over his feet. If he’d been at the club, he’d feel embarrassed with his lack of grace, but with Tate it felt different. More authentic, somehow. He was excited, and he wasn’t trying to put a mask over it.
Instead of allowing him to present himself in a formal pose, Tate tugged him over until his head was resting on Tate’s thigh. “Close your eyes,” he gently commanded.
Tate soothed gentle fingers over his perpetually tangled curls. As they sat like that for several minutes, Adam’s bouncing excitement slowly transformed into something calmer.
He was still excited, but not in any hurry. Tate would give him what he needed when he was ready.
“Good boy,” Tate murmured. Keeping one hand in Adam’s curls, he turned slightly, and then held something to Adam’s lips.
The taste of fresh strawberry exploded on his tongue. He absorbed all the flavors, sweetness first, then a hint of sour. The inside was rougher than he remembered. It was almost like tasting a strawberry for the first time.
Tate’s fingers traced his lips, and then followed down his throat as he swallowed. It was unbearably intimate.
The rest of the meal followed in a sensual haze. Adam was completely absorbed in Tate’s touch, the slow, erotic dance of following Tate’s guidance for his very sustenance.
At last, he turned his head away slightly from the cube of cheese pressed to his lips. He wasn’t objecting, just not as hungry anymore.
“Full?”
“Mmmm-hmmmm,” he agreed drowsily.
“Move around over here,” Tate instructed with a gentle nudge to Adam’s shoulder.
Squinting his eyes open, Adam saw that Tate was indicating the space between his thighs. He managed a sort of knee-walk/crawl that pushed the pillow over between Tate’s feet.
Tate had pushed his chair back so that he sat at the front of the seat, and Adam curled right up into him. His face wasn’t quite buried in Tate’s crotch, but it was close.
He could smell him, a light combination of sweat, body wash, and a more tangy, sour smell that was a little different from other men. He registered momentarily that Tate’s body produced different secretions than he was used to, and then went back to just breathing it in. Memorizing it.
Tate petted his hair a few more times, and then he heard typing resume above him. He didn’t want to move. Everything that he needed was here. He let his mind go.
Some indeterminable time later, he noticed that his joints were starting to feel sore from maintaining the same position for so long.
He slithered down to the floor and settled himself more comfortably. His arm circled around Tate’s legs and the pillow was mostly under his body. Tate helpfully put his sock-clad foot on the edge of the pillow, and Adam rested his head on top.
