Chapter 6
Nina
Nina startled awake to the sound of an alarm. Someone else’s alarm. She was still clinging to the oblivion of sleep, and the jaunty tune was entirely too perky for anything she would subject herself to. She wondered where it was coming from, but when it shut off she stopped worrying and started to drift back to sleep. Mornings sucked.
“Sorry,” came a soft, low voice. “I didn’t mean to wake you.”
Nina rolled over, realizing sleepily that there was someone else in her bed.
No, she blinked her eyes blearily open. Not just someone. Tho– no, Angel. And fuck was she beautiful in the morning, with her hair tied up in a purple wrap and just the hint of one perfect breast revealed above the sheets.
And now she was trying to sneak out. Dammit. Nina didn’t know what time it was, but the sun had barely peaked in through her windows.
Nina buried her face in the pillow. If Angel was going to disappear after the most amazing, affirming sex in her entire life, she didn’t want to see it.
She felt a touch on her shoulder. Since she couldn’t breathe anyway with her face in the pillow, she turned her head and squinted open her eyes. Then she opened them a bit wider.
Angel looked… nervous? No, she had to be imagining it. Angel was never nervous.
“Nina? Did I do something wrong?”
Oh, fuck. Angel really was nervous. Which meant that she probably wasn’t sneaking out. Nina’s mind finally caught up and she realized that it was some sort of work day. When people like Angel had to, you know, work in the mornings.
Nina was fucking everything up. “Sorry. I’m really not a morning person.”
Angel chuckled, a warm, rich sound. “I’ll keep that in mind.”
Nina took a moment to piece that together. If Angel cared about her morning habits, that meant there would be more mornings together. Or at least she hoped so.
Angel ran a hand down her cheek and Nina nuzzled into it, imagining a whole series of mornings just like this. She could totally wake up too early to give Angel a kiss goodbye at some God awful morning-person hour if it meant more nights like these. Probably. It was early.
But Angel’s hand was so tender, tracing over her ear and along her jaw like she was something special. “I have to go to work, sweet girl.”
Mmmm… She wanted to be Angel’s little slut at night and her sweet girl in the morning. Though she’d been Angel’s sweet girl last night, too. The second glorious time. Mmmmm….
“You’re really not awake at all, are you?”
“Nope,” Nina shook her head. “Little bit.” She nodded.
Angel kissed her forehead. “I’ll see myself out, then. Go back to sleep.”
She heard movement around the room and she wanted to sink back into dreamland. But now that she was awake, it seemed that she was going to stay that way. Another thought occurred to her and she finally sat up. “What’s your number?” she heard herself say. Then she buried her face in her hands. That was not slick at all.
She felt the mattress shift as Angel sank down and pulled her hands away. “God, you’re adorable in the morning when you’re grumpy. No more late nights, OK?”
“I work at a bar. I have to be up late. It’s the mornings that are wrong.” Nina scrunched up her eyes and shook her head. Then she opened them again because she was missing out.
Angel was sitting right in front of her, bared to the waist. Her ebony-tipped breasts were just right there, and Nina needed to soak in all of Angel’s beauty before it went away.
“See something you like?” Angel teased. She was so much warmer now than she had been all of those years ago. And even more seductive.
Nina nodded and leaned forward, taking one dark nipple into her mouth. And oh, it was delicious. Firming up under her lips and just the right shape to suck and kiss and…
Angel pushed her gently away until she landed back on the pillow. She panicked a little bit that she’d done something wrong, but Angel was already stroking soothing hands down her arms. “If you keep doing that, I’ll miss my fourth day of work.”
“Shit, really? You just started? I mean, hang on… What are you doing here?”
The question sounded stupid once it was out of her mouth, but she wasn’t sure how else to ask. What she meant was, are you staying? Though she cared about the other stuff, too.
