He let a whine slip into his voice. “Can’t you feel how horny I am? This isn’t fair!” He tried, fruitlessly, to move his hips but he was pinned too tightly and Geir’s face hadn’t changed.

Better to try another tactic. He made his voice smooth and seductive. “I can feel how horny you are, too. Maybe I could help you out?” He ran his tongue over his painted lips. “Just imagine how good my mouth would feel. My tongue would be so wet and hot, and my throat would be so tight when you fucked my face.”

That earned him a heavy grunt, and Geir’s hands got even tighter around him, if that was possible. But Geir still wasn’t giving in.

“Fine,” Declan huffed. “You’re really going to make me walk around with a hard-on all day? With my silky blue panties rubbing all over it? Getting all wet inside my shorts?” He was wearing a pair of cut-off jean shorts that barely covered his ass and drew Geir’s gaze every time.

Geir laughed, looking pleased and cocky, which wasn’t quite the reaction he’d been going for. “Yes, I think I am.”

Declan let all of his muscles collapse in defeat and Geir gathered him gently against his shoulder. Declan nuzzled into his neck, smelling sweat and sunshine and that little hint of the sea that never left his skin.

When Geir was with him, he was happier than he’d ever been in his life. It felt like love, or at least as close as he imagined Geir’s kraken mind could come to it.

And he was OK with that.

Geir hadn’t said the words, but he wasn’t expecting to hear them either. Geir’s actions said everything.

Geir doted on him, bringing him beautiful and odd things from the woods. He’d saved each of them, lining them up along the kitchen windowsills. Little bits of wood rounded by time in the lake. Dark stones shot through with glimmers of shining white. A feather of astonishing blue. He didn’t think anyone had ever gotten him like that. He’d even kept a few of them in the leather pouch around his neck, along with May’s gifts.

Whenever they were together, Geir was constantly touching him. But more importantly, Geir always listened to him. He knew he had all of Geir’s attention.

And the sex… it was beyond anything he’d ever dreamed. Like right now for example. Telling Geir he enjoyed denial was either the best or worst choice he’d made in his life.

He shifted a little bit, whimpering when his still-hard cock grazed against Geir’s through two layers of denim. Geir gave him a soft kiss on his forehead. No, definitely the best choice. He was going to be hard and desperate all day now. Geir would make sure of it.

God, he was lucky.

He listened to Geir’s heartbeat, to the rush of aspen leaves that sounded like rivers.

Eventually, Geir’s voice rumbled through his chest, hardly louder than the bees buzzing nearby. “What have you been up to this morning?”

Well, honestly, mostly just making himself look pretty. Which, totally worth it by the look in Geir’s eyes.

But he picked up his backpack instead which fortunately hadn’t slid off the rock in their exuberance. He turned to one of the earlier pages, since he couldn’t let Geir see all of his spy stuff.

Geir’s laugh shook through his belly.

He’d drawn a little glen near the cabin, capturing every detail of the graceful white-barked trees, the merry goldenrod, and the delicate Queen Ann’s Lace just right. He’d also landed a silver spaceship in the middle of it.

“This really is what goes on in your brain all day, isn’t it?”

“I was just thinking that if a spaceship had to land, that would be the best place for it, right? It’s covered by trees to avoid detection, but there’s enough clearance that it could get in and out easily. And if the aliens need something to eat, they could use the whole lake to catch fish. Well, if you would let them. And if they use solar panels…”

Geir stopped his flow of words with a kiss. “Aliens don’t exist.”

Declan narrowed his eyes, though he wasn’t angry at all. “A couple months ago I didn’t know you existed. Maybe you have alien neighbors and you just don’t know it. Maybe they look just like humans, but their biology is different, and you wouldn’t even know if you saw them on the street. Or maybe they’re not aliens, but they...”

Geir shut him up with another kiss.

“I like your picture,” Geir finally commented in a transparent effort to change the subject. “Have you thought more about selling them?”

Declan tried not to let his body tense, since he knew Geir would notice it. He wasn’t quite sure where he stood when Geir asked questions like that. Aside from the whole robot time issue, he was feeling more on edge about the whole money thing.

“Well,” he answered carefully, “I don’t think I could sell sketches like this. Maybe if I had a computer to do graphic design or canvases and oil paints.”

He’d tried giving Geir hints like that several times over the past month. Really, really obvious hints. He just couldn’t figure out what was going wrong.

He wanted a Daddy to love him, not shower him in expensive garbage. Geir’s funny-shaped rocks and blue jay feathers were some of the nicest gifts he’d ever received. It just sucked that he couldn’t find a job or make the type of art that he could sell with the pity cash from Mike.
