He looked at the snivelling tart beneath me, then back at me, one eyebrow lifted in query.
“That conversation we had earlier,” I said. “Did you mean it?”
He nodded.
I wished I could see his eyes.
As if he’d heard me, he reached up and pushed his dark glasses on top of his head.
His eyes locked on mine. “Every word.”
I held his gaze for a long moment. “Then you need to let me deal with this. She disrespected not only you, but the club by being rude to our guests.”
Glacier's face hardened with anger as his attention shifted back to the blonde beneath me. “Fucking stupid of you, Barb. You were on thin ice with me to begin with, but the brothers liked you, so I let you stay.”
She whimpered, her eyes wild with fear as I slowly and deliberately ran the tip of my blade down her cheek. Not enough to break her skin, but enough to keep her attention focused on me. On the knife pressed to her cheek.
Glacier returned his attention to me. “You can’t kill her, darlin’.”
“I won’t,” I assured him calmly, ignoring Barb as she squirmed beneath me, trying to get away. “I may maim her, though,” I added. “She won’t look quite so pretty when I’m done with her.”
Barb bucked in earnest as panic took over. I laughed mockingly. Gripping a handful of her brassy blonde hair, I yanked her head back and placed my blade against her throat, applying just enough pressure to draw blood. A bead of crimson trickled slowly down her throat.
“Stay still, or I’ll cut deeper,” I warned.
Her wild eyes darted back to mine, and she whimpered. I smiled, and her eyes widened in fear.
“Not so brave now, are you?” I said matter-of-factly. “You don’t like it when someone stands up to you.” I tilted my head to the side. “You’re a bully.”
I tightened my grip on her hair. “Jen didn’t deserve what you said. So what if she used to be a whore for the Saint’s Outlaws? She changed her life, made other choices, and you bring her down for it?”
My lip curled in disgust. “There are a few things I hate in this world. Paedophiles and rapists are at the top of that list. But another thing that boils my piss is a woman pulling another woman down. That irritates the fuck out of me. You went after another woman. A sister. Someone who could have been your friend. And in the process, you made an enemy out of me.”
I shook my head. “There are few things I love in this world. My son, my family, and that man over there.” Glacier stared at me in shock as I pointed at him with my knife. “And with that man comes his club. So not only did you disrespect my man, but you also disrespected the club after he specifically told everyone that our guests were to be made welcome here.”
I lowered my voice. “And that… that… is what fucked me off the most. Because this is your home and you just shat all over it. That disrespect is not something I’ll stand for.”
Wrapping her long hair around my fist, I stood and dragged her up with me. Then I kicked her knees out from under her so she fell forward in the dirt in front of Jen.
“Apologise to our guest.” Leaning down, I whispered, “And you’d better make it good. Do you understand?”
She nodded jerkily and stuttered out an apology. “I-I’m s-sorry, Jen.”
Jen looked at me, her eyes wide.
“Up to you, Jen,” I said with a nod. “Was that apology good enough for you?”
It wasn’t good enough for me, but I wasn’t the one she’d insulted.
Jen hesitated before nodding. “It was fine.”
“Okay, then.”
I yanked Barb’s head back by her hair, noticing with satisfaction that dark bruises were already forming beneath her eyes. She would be in a world of pain for a few days.
“Have you learned your lesson?” I asked quietly. “You don’t fuck with my man’s club.”
“Yes,” she replied quickly.
