“I’ll tell you what’s rude, Jen,” Janis responded. “Rude is North and Carnage bringing you here without backup and leaving you alone with the bitches who come to these fights.”
“They didn’t know,” Jen protested.
Janis whirled around. “Because you didn’t tell them, Jen. If you had, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. How are we meant to protect you if you don’t say anything? How are they meant to know?” She waved at the two men. “Those bitches made you cry and feel bad about yourself. Nobody does that to one of ours.”
I liked these women. They might be younger than me, but they had their shit together.
“Who made you cry and why?” I asked, needing information.
Janis looked at me. “You never answered. What are you to the Kings?”
I shrugged. “I’m Juju, a friend of Glacier’s. Now, who made your friend cry and why? You may as well tell me while the Presidents sort out whatever this is. Maybe I can help.”
“Fuck,” North grumbled, drawing Jen into his arms. “Jen, you should have told us that those bitches were fucking with you.”
Jen’s lip trembled, and her eyes glossed with tears. “I don’t want to cause trouble.”
So far, I’d figured out that the woman with pink hair was called Jen and seemed to be with the two men. The redhead was Janis. I was still waiting for the dark-haired woman's name. Enough of this.
“You.” I pointed at the dark-haired woman. “Name. Then fill me in.”
She assessed me with a shrewd look. “I’m Tru. This is my sister Janis and our friend, Jen.” She indicated the redhead and the pink-haired woman in turn. “North is our cousin. He works for the Saint’s Outlaws MC. Carnage is the Sergeant-at-Arms for the Saint’s Outlaws MC, where our aunt and mother are Old Ladies. Jen was a whore for the club, and the women from other clubs won’t let her forget it. Jen is our friend, and I’m done with bitches making her feel bad about herself. She works for our uncle in the garage now. She’s a good person who doesn’t deserve the shit she has to put up with.”
“No, she doesn’t,” I agreed. I turned to North. “What’s the issue with them being here?”
North sighed. “Protection, mostly. The MC women are protected no matter the club. Jen wears a Property of Saint’s Outlaws cut, but Tru and Janis don’t have theirs yet. Carnage and I are fighting, which means we can’t watch over them. Maverick would have sent more men or asked Glacier to make sure the girls were watched.”
Janis glared at North. “We can take care of ourselves.”
“I know, squirt, but this is Kings’ territory, and we’re guests. There are protocols.”
“Oh.” Janis’s shoulders slumped. “Sorry, North. If we can’t stay, we’ll take Jen home with us.”
“Or you could sit with me,” I offered without thinking.
“Fucking hell, darlin’,” Glacier sighed, circling my waist and pulling me against him. “Knew you were going to be trouble.”
Turning, I grinned up at him. “You love it. Let’s get this sorted so we can get to the fighting part of the evening. I’m guessing you arranged protection for me even though it’s not needed. Is there room for these three?”
Glacier nodded, spearing the other women with a dark look. “You’ll be seeing Maverick when you get home.”
They winced but nodded.
“You’ll stay where we put you, with the brothers I assign,” he continued, his voice hard. “I don’t want any shit from any of you. Your safety is on my shoulders. Maverick filled me in on your backgrounds, but you’re on Kings turf now, and nobody fucks with us without consequences. Am I clear?”
“Clear,” Tru and Janis said in unison.
“Yes,” Jen replied softly, lowering her gaze to the ground. “Sorry to cause so much trouble.”
Janis wrapped an arm around Jen’s waist in support, nudging North out of the way. It wasn’t hard to see that Jen wasn’t a confident woman.
“Wasn’t you that caused trouble, Jen,” Glacier said, his tone softening. “You stay with my woman, and you’ll be golden.”
A little shiver ran through me as he said my woman. Who knew I’d find that hot?
“North, Carnage, find Lurch and get your slots,” Glacier continued. “Ladies, this is my VP, Lawless. He'll be with us. Let’s go.”
Lawless finished his conversation with the Prospects on the barriers and walked towards us.
