Ten minutes later, I pulled up outside the barn.
In daylight, I finally got a proper look at the place. At first glance, the barn looked derelict: weathered timber, rusted roofing, broken fences. The kind of place people ignored, which was likely deliberate.
I was wondering whether the ranch staff questioned why deliveries always came here when a ranch truck rolled up beside me. Two boys barely out of their teens got out and gave me polite nods.
Then I heard it. The distant thunder of motorcycles. The rumble grew, dust pluming down the road as the bikes approached.
And then there he was.
No helmet this time. Just his ever-present dark glasses and that dangerous, unhurried confidence that made my pulse pick up as he rode towards me and stopped.
I waited as he switched off the bike and dismounted. His gaze locked on mine and never wavered as he closed the distance between us.
By the time he reached my truck, my skin was prickling with awareness.
He opened the door and held out his hand. The second I took it; he pulled me into him. One arm banded around my back while the other slid to my throat, holding me exactly where he wanted me. Desire curled low in my belly.
God, what was it about this man that got me hot so fast?
“It’s been a long three weeks, Juju,” he growled before biting down on my lower lip. Hard enough to sting.
I sucked in a breath as he released it, running my tongue over the tiny ache.
My belly quivered with need. I inhaled a shaky breath. “Kiss me,” I whispered, tilting my face up to his.
He did far more than kiss me.
He devoured me.
By the time he lifted his head, I was breathing hard and gripping his cut like I needed it to stay upright.
“Keys,” he demanded.
“In the truck.”
“You’re riding on the back of my bike.” His voice was rough. “Not waiting another minute to have you.”
“Okay,” I breathed.
The next thing I knew, I was airborne. Glacier tossed me over his shoulder like I weighed nothing. Not that I minded. No way. Especially not with the damn fine view of his ass in his tight jeans.
Laughing, I slipped my hands into his back pockets and squeezed.
He stumbled slightly. “Jesus Christ,” he muttered.
“Lawless,” Glacier barked, “her keys are in the truck. Have a prospect bring it to mine when you’re done.”
I hadn’t even noticed the others arrive. My entire focus had narrowed to the man who was making me feel unexpected things.
“Got it, Pres,” Lawless replied, his voice thick with amusement. “Good to see you, Juju.”
Lifting my head, I shot him a grin. “You too. Look after my truck and I’ll look after your President.”
Lawless roared with laughter, while Lurch shook his head, grinning.
“Fuck’s sake,” Glacier muttered, smacking my ass. “Behave.”
“Can’t promise that,” I teased. “You’ll either get used to me or you won’t.”
