CHAPTER ONE
Serena
“What!?” I yelled at my phone, gawking at what I was seeing.
My mother, Rosalie, had texted me this morning that my ex-boyfriend/ex-daddy was getting married to some chick named Charlotte. If I was being honest, I was more than just a little confused. Lazarus and I broke up a long time ago, but he was always so adamant about getting back together. He had bored me and I didn’t want him to be my daddy anymore, so I lied and said I cheated on him. Lately though, I’ve begun thinking about getting back together with him and asking for his forgiveness.
This sure wasn’t in my plans.
From Mom 2:09 PM
Lazarus invited us to come, if you want to go. He was always a sweet guy, I’m happy to see he met someone good for him.
I rolled my eyes.
To Mom 2:11 PM
Mom, I am obviously not going to go to his wedding. We broke up a long time ago and there’s no reason for me to. I don’t see why you are talking to him either, that is a little weird if you ask me.
From Mom 2:12 PM
It may be weird to you. I always liked him. I was quite disappointed when you broke up with him. It was dumb if you ask me. We should go and support him as he marries this girl. I bet she is very lucky to have him.
My blood boiled at the thought of that.
I guess maybe I could go to ruin it.
To Mom 2:13 PM
Fine, I’ll go, but don’t expect me to just like it. I doubt this new girl is anything compared to me. I suppose as his ex, I should do the polite thing and give my congratulations.
From Mom 2:14 PM
Stop being so bitter. You are the one who let him go. The wedding is in two weeks at his cabin if you remember where that is.
How could I forget?
To Mom 2:15 PM
Yes, I remember.
I sighed in annoyance, dropping my phone onto the bed. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do as my anger slowly left me. Here I was single, having absolutely nobody on my side, and I was going to attend my ex-boyfriend’s wedding looking like a dumbass. I needed to show him exactly what he was missing.
Maybe I should hire a fake boyfriend for this wedding.
A few of my friends have hired escorts before to pretend to be their boyfriends when they needed to go to events and not look stupid. I must admit, I thought it was pretty dumb to just go out and hire somebody to be your boyfriend, but now I realized it might actually be a little bit necessary. As embarrassing as it could be, it shouldn’t matter unless someone were to find out.
Right?
I drew in a deep breath, remembering the site that one of my friends had told me about. I fished out my computer and was very thankful that I lived alone so nobody would see how low I have stooped to get what I want.
EscortLovers.com
What a strange name, I mused, putting in all of my information. But when it got to the package deals, my eyes widened in surprise when I realized that some of these escorts included sex. I flushed, wondering why it had to be so specific asking me what kind of guy I found ideal.
