CHAPTER NINE
Megan
It felt good to know that Nathan didn't see me as Rebecca's friend or even as just a co-worker. After hearing him confirm that he did like me, we started seeing each other outside of work over the next week while we maintained a professional relationship while at work. As soon as we were off for the day, we would go out to spend time together. With Christmas right around the corner, there was so much more to do, and I enjoyed our regular outings.
Over the next few days, I started to fall in love with him and the way he always treated me like a princess whenever we were out in public. Even though I wasn't sure he was a Daddy or not, I honestly didn't care. He could have been just a regular man looking for connection with a woman he liked, and I still felt the same way about him as I would if he was a Daddy.
I already knew that I was going to have to have the Daddy conversation with him, and I hoped that it didn't ruin things between us. There were so many people who didn't like the idea of Daddies and Littles, and it made him dating all the more difficult. Whenever I did finally meet someone, their reaction to my kink was always what determined the success of the relationship, and the thought of having that conversation with him filled me with anxiety.
The day of the Christmas party, which I was invited to thanks to Rebecca, I decided I was finally ready to have the talk with him. I wanted to know just how serious he truly was about being with me and if we were actually meant to be. If he couldn't accept my kink, then there was a chance that the relationship would not last. As much as I liked him, I knew that, once he knew, and he didn't approve, he was going to distance himself and not want to associate with me anymore.
Nathan was picking me up for the Christmas party, and, by the time I finished getting ready, he was already messaging me that he was there. Immediately, I rushed out to meet him and saw that he was in the same pickup as what he had driven the day we went to the theater together. As I climbed into the passenger seat, he smiled down at me.
"You look beautiful today," he commented as we drove away. I blushed in embarrassment as I talked to my hair behind my ear.
"Thank you," I said as I looked at him. "You look well yourself."
Nathan was dressed in dark jeans and a black sweater, and he had recently clipped his beard in order to give himself a cleaner appearance. From what I had heard from Rebecca, she had wanted him to shave it completely, but he refused. According to him, he had always worn the beard and preferred to keep it. In all honesty, I thought it made him look better that way.
The car ride to the compound, which I had visited countless times, was strangely silent, and I kept getting the feeling that something was bothering him. He kept staring out the front window, almost as if he was internally debating with himself and was having the worst time trying to decide on what to do. As we got closer to the compound, he finally risked a glance over at me.
"Can I ask you something?" he finally asked, sounding a bit worried as he spoke. Genuinely concerned and curious about how serious he sounded, I nodded in response.
"Of course," I replied, hoping it wasn't anything to serious what is it. He paused for a moment before turning to look at me.
"How much do you love me?" he asked, and I paused for a moment as he continued. "Just one hundred percent honest. How much do you love me?" Confused by his question, I shrugged.
"Enough to say it and truly mean it each and every time," I admitted.
Considering the fact that I had only started saying it after our third date, and I had waited until he said it, I was confused by what he was referring to. It seemed a bit early in the relationship to have this kind of conversation, and I could tell that it was eating him alive. After hearing my response, he nodded and allowed a stiff smile.
"If I confess something to you, can you promise that you won't judge?" he asked. Even more confused by his strange behavior, I nodded once again.
"Of course," I promised. "You can tell me anything." After taking a deep breath, he nodded.
"Alright," he began as he seemed to brace himself for my response. "I have a very particular request I want to make of you, and I don't want you thinking any less of me for it. Rather, I want you to have an open mind and just hear me out. If it makes you uncomfortable, I want to be able to talk it out." Part of me begged for him to admit to being a Daddy while the other part wondered just what he was up to.
"Okay," I agreed. "So, what is it?" He risked another glance at me as he drove, and I started to wonder why he was acting so erratically.
"Have you ever heard of Littles?" he asked, and I couldn't help but laugh as the relief washed over me.
"Is that what this is about?" I asked, gasping for air as I tried to calm down. He frowned as he glanced over at me once again before pulling over to the side of the road. As soon as it was safe, he turned to look at me fully.
"You promised you would have an open mind," he accused as he stared at me. You broke your promise." Immediately, I shook my head at him.
"No, it's not that," I reassured him as I wiped a tear from my eye. Taking a second to collect my thoughts, I continued. "Yes, I know what Littles are, and I know what a Daddy is." He frowned as he stared at me for a moment.
"You do?" he asked, sounding a little relieved as he spoke. When I nodded in response, he looked even more confused. "Then, why did you laugh when I asked the question?" Preparing myself for his reaction, I took a deep breath.
"Because I am a Little," I admitted. "I was debating on if this was a good time to have that conversation with you, and you beat me to it." I watched as his eyes went wide and his mouth formed an "O" shape.
"Is that so?" he asked, his voice growing low as he growled at me. "Then you know what happens when Littles tease their Daddy right?" I smiled mischievously at him and tilted my head to the side.
"Yes, I do," I replied smugly. "What are you going to do about it, Daddy?" Immediately, he put the car in drive, and he took off down the road, a sense of urgency to his actions.
"I'm going to show you what happens when you tease me," he growled as he drove, and excitement sent butterflies fluttering around in my belly as I wondered what he meant.
