My eyes went to her lips, and I suddenly wondered what that would feel like. “I’m not kissing you.”
She raised an eyebrow at me. “Why not? It’s just a kiss.”
I could smell her perfume, and it twisted my gut up. God, I wanted nothing more than to put her over my knee. I wanted to listen to her whimper in pleasure and maybe, for once, get her to be quiet. Though I doubted she was quiet in the sack.
“I’m going to start thinking you’re the one who wants to bed me. Trying to make it your payment back?”
Her eyes narrowed. “Oh yes. I can hardly control myself, Klaus. I’m just soaking my panties when I see you.”
I ground my teeth together, watching her smirk as she spoke in that sarcastic tone. “I just moan your name at night. Waiting to see what you can do.”
I grabbed the back of her neck, pulling her against me. She looked shocked as I moved my hand, grabbing at her chin. I leaned closer and inhaled her. She smelled so fucking sweet, and I could even get a hint of coffee on her breath. “You asked for it. Just remember that.”
I kissed her, and not softly. I kissed her like the brat she was. I could hear her moan, and I slid my tongue into her mouth, tasting her like I’d never get a chance again.
Chapter 10 - Aubrey
His lips were rough against mine, and I couldn’t breathe. Klaus knew how to kiss. His hand held me there, so even if I had tried to pull away, I couldn’t. But I wasn’t.
His body was pressed against mine, and his warmth was radiating through my clothes. We stumbled into the wall where Klaus caged me. His lips were still not leaving mine, and I found myself wanting more. I wanted his hands on me, his body closer than it already was. I didn’t want the fabric between us.
I knew it was wrong considering everything, but my god, this man knew what he was doing. He tasted like chocolate, and his tongue. Fuck, his tongue. The way he was sliding it over mine.
His lips pulled from mine, and I was panting for air. I stared at his lips, suddenly aching for them.
“There, do you feel anything?”
My eyes went up to his eyes, and for a split second, I didn’t understand. But it clicked. He was asking if I felt anything. The entire reason he kissed me was to see if it would stir up any magic.
He took a step back, and I leaned against the wall. But I felt no shift. I didn’t feel anything different. I just felt my heart racing and heat coursing over my entire body.
I swallowed and shook my head. He looked almost disappointed. “Well, I think that proves you were wrong.” He took another step back before turning toward the kitchen. I pulled a hand up, rubbing my finger over my lip. I could still feel him, taste his lips on mine. My heart twisted violently.
I hated how much I liked it. I’d been kissed before, but nothing like that. Not like… I’d been the one person he wanted the most.
Over the next couple of days, I couldn’t stomach being around Klaus. So, I stayed out as much as possible. I quickly found myself feeling alone. I needed someone to talk to. Julie was of no help, and Cal was Klaus’s Beta, so it wasn’t like I could just blab to him. Really, I just wanted comfort in any form.
I found myself trying to branch out because I couldn’t stand not having people to talk to. I was currently standing in front of the bulletin board at the library, questioning if I was man enough to try rock climbing.
I stared at the paper, trying to get myself to put my name down.
“You look deep in thought.”
I turned as a woman paused next to me. She was short with a pixie cut. She had bright green eyes and a soft smile. “Signing up?”
“Contemplating it,” I admitted. “Not exactly my cup of tea.”
She chuckled. “I could never. I’m a chicken.”
I chuckled nervously. “Well, I need to do something. I’m going crazy at home, and nothing else is available right now to sign up.”
She tilted her head, giving me a confused look. “Are you new? I feel like I’ve seen you around here a few times.”
I could tell she had no idea who I was, but that look would shift as soon as I told her. “I’m Aubrey. Klaus’s wife.”
I waited for her smile to drop and for her expression to change entirely, but it didn’t. She just kept smiling. “I’m Cally.” She extended her hand, and I gave it a shake.
“If you want, I can join a group for weekly spiritual walks. We don’t have a sign-up sheet because we forgot to add it this month.”
