I want to ask more, but that’s enough reassurance for now. Not that I even asked for any. All I asked for when he walked through the door was his cock. I didn’t even have to say it. My scent did all the talking for me.

Now I’m getting rutted. I’m orgasming constantly. He’s driving his length into me so hard and fast this massive bed is shaking. It didn’t even budge when he threw me onto it, so it takes a lot of effort to make it move like this. Or a wolf shifter who can’t get enough of me.

“Oh god, oh god, Victor!” I chant like a mantra. My voice gets louder every time it leaves my lips until I’m practically screaming. “Victor!”

“That’s it, mate,” he growls, still plowing into my pussy, the angle making him hit my g-spot. “Scream my name while I fill you with my seed!”

I do. So loud I’m sure the entire hotel can hear me, but I don’t have the willpower to care. My brain is just mush and pleasure. I’ve never felt more radiant. More alive. I deserve everything and right now, I’m getting everything I deserve. Victor would be so proud if he could read my mind right now.

“Fuck! Fuuuck!” he shouts, his thrusts becoming erratic as his hot seed explodes deep inside me.

“Yes, yes!” I scream, my eyes rolling back as an enormous orgasm quakes through my body, my pussy massaging his length with so much desperation I come again.

My entire body is vibrating when he finally stills. Then I feel something else. The base of his cock seems to swell, just for a couple of seconds, and the stretch is incredible. Then it goes away and I groan.

“What was that?” I breathe out.

“My knot,” he answers me panting. “I won’t be able to knot you properly until the frenzy hits, but as our time grows closer, my knot will start trying to form.”

“You really are a wolf,” I’m sure there is wonder in my voice, my liquified brain not as terrified of being knotted as I probably should be.

“With all the instincts that come with it,” he states proudly, gently sliding his cock out of me. “And right now, I have to protect you. I won’t be able to stay long. I need to shower. And go out again.”

“What’s going on? Is there trouble?” I become a little more alert, rolling over once he gets out of bed.

“No, just a team of Witch Hunters,” he says nonchalantly. “Saul wanted to meet with them, so we did. They’re not after you. They just want the book.”

“The book?” I look toward the living room area, where it’s still in his backpack. “You’re going to give it to them?”

He turns to face me, his dick still semi-hard and dripping with the same combination of juices leaking out of my battered passage.

“Is that a problem? You said your grandmother got it at an estate sale,” he says.

“That’s what she said, but…” I worry my bottom lip between my teeth. “If it helped with the fate-block, what if it was in my family longer than that? Maybe she didn’t tell me everything.”

“The fate-block is broken. You may be descended from druids, but you don’t have druid powers. You’ve never been trained in the ways of Ishtar. There’s no need to decipher the book or try to cast spells. That’ll just attract more trouble like the Witch Hunters who are already here, or something even worse.”

He does have a point. One spell is enough for me. I mean, it gave me everything, and a wolf shifter to make sure I believe I deserve it. It’s not like I could ask for more. If I did, he’d probably trip over himself trying to give it to me.

“So, we give them the book and they go away?” I ask hesitantly.

“That’s the deal. If they don’t, then we’ll get the book back covered in their blood,” he warns. “Either way, the Witch Hunter problem will be solved.”

I consider it a few moments more. “Okay, yeah. Give them the book.”

“I wasn’t really asking, but I’m glad we agree,” he grins at me then turns and walks into the bathroom.

The words prick a little. Not enough to make me fight him, but enough to remind me that trusting Victor and being devoured by Victor are not always the same thing.

I barely understand this strange new world I’ve found myself in. I keep arranging things in my head like puzzle pieces from multiple different boxes. I’m certainly not going to start casting spells. I don’t think I need magic when I’ve got a wolf shifter to protect me. And maybe, eventually, to love me.

I’ve asked Victor more about druids, Mother Fate, Ishtar, and Gilgamesh. I seem to have a better understanding of it now, even with my overwhelmed brain. Mother Fate and Mother Nature were the balance that kept the universe thriving. Nobody knows if Mother Fate has a name like Mother Nature did. Ishtar was what Mother Nature’s druids called her. Mother Fate didn’t have any druids.

Gilgamesh wanted to learn the secrets of shifting and that took him down a bloody path until he had enough power to slay Ishtar. Then he took her power too. Nobody’s sure what happened after that, exactly, except that Mother Fate is the only one left. Taking on Mother Nature’s duties, as well as her own seems to have resulted in some gaps, like some of the wolves not receiving a mate. Even a goddess can’t balance everything, apparently.

There are plenty of legends amongst the wolves. Only a few survived Gilgamesh’s reign and they were scattered to the wind. They found human mates, instead of druids. They formed packs. Some history was recorded but most of it was lost. Not much different from humans, I suppose.

It feels strange to give away the only object that might know more about my family than I do. But it also nearly ruined my life, or fixed it, or both. I don’t know how to hold something like that. Something Witch Hunters come looking for.
