Fin cupped my cheek. “Fucking you was on my schedule.” He scoffed. “Just not until later.”

Staring into his eyes, the brightness was back. I kissed his lips. “Don’t change your schedule. I believe we can find time.”

“I like the way you think.”

Fin took my hand and led me toward the kitchen.

On the top of the stove was a baking dish with tomatoes and cheese. “What did you make?”

“My girl scream in ecstasy.”

A laugh bubbled from my lips. “You did make that happen. What’s for dinner?”

“Baked feta. I haven’t put it in the oven yet because I wasn’t sure when you’d be home.”

I rolled my eyes. “It wasn’t Aunt Rachel’s or my idea for a drink.”

“Did you knock them dead?”

Pressing my lips together, I shrugged. “I think it went well. Meetings like that will fill my next week.” Excitement sparked in my circulation. “This Super Bowl run could really be good for the Coopers.”

Fin kissed my forehead. “I love seeing you happy.”

“I love you.” I scrunched my nose. “I’m going to go change and clean up.”

He bent down, his nose near my ear as he sniffed. “I think you smell fantastic with my scent on you.” Meeting my gaze, he grinned. “This way when you’re wearing all those fancy dresses and high heels, other men will know you’re mine.”

“The only thing I’m doing in those dresses and uncomfortable shoes is showing our donors and sponsors that the Coopers are still strong. We’re a team and a market that is worth their time and mostly their money.”

“You’ll do that, Vee.”

The first thing I did once I was in our bedroom was take off my shoes and wiggle my toes. As I stripped out of my clothes, I had an idea. After cleaning myself, I wrapped my body in a lush bath towel and walked back into the living room. Fin had his back to me.

“I have an idea.”

He spun toward me. His eyebrows arched as he looked at the towel. “I don’t know what it is, but if it involves you dropping that towel, I’m in.”

“How long does the baked feta take to bake?”

“About forty minutes.”

Batting my eyelashes, I offered a sultry grin. “Will a bath and a glass of wine work with your schedule?”

“On one condition.”

“Hmm?”

“I join you.”

CHAPTER 47

Fin

Monday night, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, our team and coaches were ushered through a secure entrance and walked through long corridors. As we approached the convention center floor, the low din of the crowd grew louder. Coach Tilson led the charge as the entire team made our way up on the stage. NFL hosts and analysts introduced us.

One voice boomed through the PA system. “Welcome to the stage the Lexington Coopers.”

I stood in awe of the sight. There were reporters filling every inch of the floor. Farther back were screaming fans. The whole thing felt surreal.
