“Run!” I shout.

The students freeze.

“Run!” I shout, again. “Now.”

They break from their stupor, spin away from Anthony, and run. Except Jonas. I start toward him, then halt when the Shadows head in my direction. Oh, God. My use of magic is calling them to me.

Chapter Eight

BLADE

Tychon is gone, but the hate that still radiates off Eldione feeds my barely controlled fury. I start to step forward with the intention of leaving, but Raith’s hand on my shoulder keeps me where I stand.

“Tychon disguising himself as a human and befriending Leilah Crowe must have something to do with Miriam Crowe,” Olympia says.

I fist my hands at my sides. I will find Tychon and tear him limb from limb.

“The witch who died while practicing Shadow magic?” Eldione frowns. “What has she to do with Tychon?”

“Leilah Crowe is Miriam’s granddaughter,” Olympia replies.

Eldione stares. “The woman Tychon befriended?”

“Yes.” Raith removes his hand from my shoulder. “Seton’s friendship with Ms. Crowe must have something to do with her grandmother.”

“A rogue witch and an Atlantean demigod.” Eldione blows out a breath. “At least we need not worry about the witch.”

Olympia draws a sharp breath.

Eldione pins her with a hard look. “Don’t act as if I am the one with no compassion. A high witch who practices Shadow magic is ruthless. Normally, I would not bother to interfere—”

“Indeed?” Olympia cuts in. “Then why are you here?”

The goddess’s eyes blaze. “We saw the Reaping take place.”

“It came early,” Raith says. “Very early.”

“Your Reaping pales in comparison to finding allies harboring a mortal enemy,” Eldione sneers.

“We had no idea of Seton’s true identity,” Domini interjects.

I snap my gaze onto him. Domini, I realize, has been too quiet. I expect a man of his supposed power to take action. Instead, Carter took Seton—Tychon—down.

“If we had known his true identity, we would have contacted you,” Domini continues.

Eldione frowns. “Who are you?”

“Mage Edd Domini, at your service.” He executes a slight bow.

Eldione studies him, then returns her attention to Olympia. “The great Grand Witch of the North cannot recognize a demigod?”

“You can’t have it both ways, Eldione,” Olympia replies. “Either you gods are powerful enough to fool us or you aren’t.”

“I have never heard the Grand Witch admit that anyone could fool her,” Eldione says.

Olympia offers a cool smile. “No one is invincible.”

Eldione’s eyes snap with power.
