“I’ll be happy to help you knock it off your bucket list.” Wyatt lowered his head.

Morgan started to lower her eyelids, a small sigh escaping her lips when a glimmer of light caught her attention.

Her head snapped back, her eyes immediately drawn to the attic windows.

“What is it?”

“I thought I saw light.”

Wyatt followed her gaze. “It’s still dark.”

“Seriously, I saw a light,” she insisted.

Sure enough, a beam of bright light flitted past the window and began bouncing around the attic.

Morgan could feel her blood boil. Despite the padlock and sign, the determined YouTubers had found a way to get into the off-limits area. “This makes me mad.”

She started to storm off, marching toward the front of the property.

Wyatt caught up with her. He grabbed her arm and stopped her. “What do you plan to do?”

“Ask them what the heck they think they’re doing,” she fumed. “And then I’m going to tell them to pack their bags and leave.”

Chapter 12

Morgan hustled up the stairs, not slowing until she reached the grand suite at the end of the long hall. She rapped sharply on the door. No one answered.

Wyatt slipped in next to her. “I know you’re upset, but you need to take a deep breath.”

“I don’t like sneaky, snake-y people. The least these two could have done is fess up to who they are and asked me to show them around.”

“What would you have said?”

Morgan thought about it. “I’m not sure. I suppose it would depend on how they posed the question.”

“In their defense.” He lifted both hands. “And I’m by no means defending them; they would have risked you telling them no. Remember the saying…it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission.”

“I get it. I just don’t like underhanded people sneaking around under my roof.”

“Are you going to throw them out?”

“No, but I will triple, quadruple lock the door and booby-trap it.”

He laughed out loud. “I almost feel sorry for them.”

Morgan briefly closed her eyes. “I’ll remain calm. I promise.”

“Good girl.”

She knocked again, this time harder.

Thud. A dull thud echoed. The door opened a crack. “Yes?”

“It’s Morgan Easton. I need to talk to you.”

“Now?”

“Now.”
