I stepped back and stared at him, embarrassment rolling through me. I ran my hand through my hair, trying somehow to fix what I had just done.
“I’m sorry…I…I don’t know what just happened,” I said, the words tumbling out. “What the hell was I thinking? Please don’t hate me, I—”
“Pfft, hate ya? Are you tryna to take the piss? I could never hate you. I love ya, and I’ll admit that watching ya fuck Snowflake gets me going, but I’m not sure I’m interested in more than that.”
“Yeah, of course, neither am I. I just…I don’t know why I did that.”
It was true, I’d never thought of Myles sexually before, so I was just as confused as he was.
He stepped forward, and I tried to back away, but I had nowhere to go. Myles grabbed me by the arms, not letting me escape from this humiliating moment.
“Stop. This is an emotional time, I get it. When emotions are runnin’ high, we do shite we normally wouldn’t. But yer like me brother. I fuckin’ love ya, and I’m not going anywhere. Besides, I know I have irresistible lips. It’s how I won over Snowflake.”
He smiled, and I chuckled at his ridiculousness.
“So, you’re not mad at me?”
“Don’t be stupid,” he grumbled. “Never. But…and I’m just throwing this out there…if ya really are havin’ feelings, then maybe yer twin is the better one to talk to. I’m not gonna be any help, other than being here for ya as yer best friend. Mind you, if Liam made it an order, I…”
He waved his hand like he was trying to wipe away the thought.
“Never mind.”
“No, it’s not like that, I’ve never…you know. You’ve just always been there. I feel the same level of comfort with you as I do with Ren. Wow…I can’t believe I kissed you.”
He smiled wide and wrapped an arm around my shoulders.
“Dude, you need to tell me…was it good?”
Laughing, I shook my head at him.
“Fuck off.”
“Naw, I’m serious. I need to know if I still have the magic touch,” Myles said, making me roll my eyes.
“Dear God, what have I done? You’ve got something, I’m not sure it’s magic though.”
“Arse.”
Rubbing my face, I tried to compose what was left of my sanity before walking out the door.
“Are ya ready to head out,” Myles asked.
“You promise we’re good?”
My eyes bugged out as Myles grabbed my face and kissed me hard. He let go and smirked.
“There, now we’re even. Come on, yer brother is gonna wonder where we are.”
Still trying to figure out how we got here, I followed him from the room. I had no idea what I did to deserve a best friend like Myles, but there was none better out there, I’d bet my life on it.
JANUARY 19 – MONDAY 5:13 PM
Ren
It was quiet in the library today, which was fabulous. I loved it when we could take the large table on the second floor, and it didn’t matter if we laughed a little too loud, because the place was empty.
“And here I thought that I had drama,” Lizzy said.
