“Ya make me nervous,” I said. “Me heart dinnie wanna stop runnin’.”
“Let me help you relax,” he said, his lips touched my neck.
I was shocked that I hadn’t passed out as my heart raced faster until it was all I could hear.
Thump, thump, thump.
“I dinnie tink yer helpin’,” I said, tempted to leap from the bed even as my body begged for more. “All da women in me coven ‘ave warned me of a man’s touch. Day would say dat it cannie be poison to da soul. I’z was told ya be a path of notin’ but anguish.”
He made a soft rumbling sound against my neck that had my body pressing back into his, which only increased the sound he made.
“Is that what you believe? Do you think I’m nothing but a road of anguish and pain?”
I felt like a dog panting after a long run. “Ya be messin’ wit me head and me body. Dat much me knows fir sure.”
He chuckled, and as the sound vibrated down my spine, I couldn’t stop the moan from escaping my mouth.
“Yer no helpin’ ta calm me.”
I felt him smile into the side of my neck. “Oh, but I can.”
The arm he had wrapped around my waist travelled down my leg, and I had to bite my lip to hold back another moan. His hand slowly lifted the large T-shirt I was wearing pulling the material all the way up from where it had been at my knees.
My body began to shake as the nervousness worsened.
“Shhh, Elewyen, I promise this won’t hurt,” he said, and then ran the soft lobe of my ear through his teeth.
“It feels like ya could consume me body,” I said, my voice wavering.
Rook was a mystery. I would swear he could take what he wanted when he wanted, then in the next breath, he was calm and understanding. I couldn’t make up my mind which of the two was the real Rook.
I sucked in a gasp and pushed back hard into his body as his hand slid around my hip to the lower part of my stomach. He groaned into my ear as he held me tighter, and the vibration travelled all the way down my spine.
“Do you even understand how beautiful you are?” he whispered.
Other than Keeva, no one had ever said I was beautiful. Rook had said it to me twice tonight, but I didn’t know what you had to look like to be considered beautiful. I thought Mari was beautiful and her sister Belle was equally so. Did he compare me to them? Was I my own kind of beautiful?
“Stop thinking so much, and just relax.”
Rook’s hand left my bare stomach, and I felt empty from his lack of touch until he reached around and cupped my chin, forcing me to look up at him. The moon’s rays were bright tonight, and they made his eyes look even more stunning than normal as the moonlight emphasized the deep blue. The shadows that lined his face made him look like a dream and a demon at the same time. Not an ugly demon, but one that would happily lead you to sin, and you would smile and go right along with him.
He stared at me for what felt like a lifetime, and with each moment that passed, I wanted him to kiss me. The feel of his lips on mine and the emotions that his kiss brought to life in me were firmly planted in the front of my mind.
As if reading my thoughts, he dropped his head. The kiss didn’t start out tentative like it had before. It was hot and deep, and his tongue demanded entrance to my mouth, I gave in wanting more.
If this was what a kiss felt like, then I couldn’t help wondering how laying with him would feel. I was so engrossed in the kiss that I didn’t notice when his hand left my face, but I noticed when it pressed into my stomach once more. I didn’t jump as much this time, but I couldn’t seem to stop pushing back into his hips.
Each time I moved, he groaned a little louder and his kiss became a little more aggressive, as if my body's action increased the desire in him. He was wearing soft bottoms, but I could distinctly feel something hard pressing into my back and knew what it was. I’d been taught by the women of the coven the parts of a man and how they worked. When I travelled, I sometimes came across men bathing naked in the stream. I hid among the bushes and secretly watched them. It was wrong, and yet I couldn’t help staring at the part of them that hung between their legs. I didn’t remember it looking as big as what this felt like, though.
Rook’s hand grew bolder and slid down my body until it rested on the top of my womanhood. Even as anxious as I was, I wanted to know what it would feel like if he touched me there. When his hand skimmed farther down my leg, I was disappointed until he pulled up on my leg and draped it over his own.
The position opened my legs up, and every part of my body trembled. He was lighting fires under my skin, and the sensation burned in my gut. The strange tingling magic felt when I looked at him erupted as it broke free from deep in my chest. Breaking the kiss, I arched off the bed as his hand returned to the top of my womanhood. It was too much.
“Just relax, I feel it too, but try to remain calm,” Rook said as I gulped for air. He brought his face close to mine. “Look into my eyes. Good, that’s it. Don’t fight it. Ride the feeling. Let me help you. Hang onto me.”
I moaned into his mouth as he kissed me again, and I wrapped my arm around his neck. I did feel more stable the moment I hung onto him, and it suddenly felt like he’d never be close enough.
Rook broke the kiss, and I sucked in a deep breath as his fingers found another sensitive spot that, with the lightest of touches, ignited intense pleasure. I jerked as he pressed on the area and rubbed in a circle.
