“No, I want him wide awake to see this.” Jim grabbed Adalyn, and I knew what he was going to do even before he pulled her cotton scrubs down. My muscles strained as I fought again, and I’d never wanted superpowers more in my life than in that moment. My back bowed off the bed, and the cuff’s edges were cutting into my wrists, but I didn’t care.

“Let go of me.” Adalyn fought hard, her nails connecting with more than one spot on Jim’s face and body before he simply overpowered her. Tears streamed down her beautiful face as her arms were wrenched behind her back. Her eyes found mine, and I didn’t look away, even though I wanted to, even though it gutted me that she was going through this because of me.

“You think he’s great, do you? Let’s see if you still feel that way when I’m done with you.”

“Hey, hold up man, you never said anything about raping a nurse,” the one I’d labeled dipshit said. I had to give him points that even after I smashed his face in, he was trying to do the right thing.

My respect for dipshit notched up slightly as Jim ignored him and he yanked on his arm, trying to pull him away from Adalyn. Jim’s elbow came up fast, connecting with dipshit’s jaw and making a loud crack. He stumbled back and landed on his ass. His face was taking a real beating, and I wondered how he was able to stand at all as he pushed himself up. He earned more cred in my book.

“Don’t fucking do this man, she’s not who you’re mad at, not to mention it’s fucked up,” dipshit said, his words slurring through the blood pouring from his mouth.

“Get him out of here, and then come back for your piece of this little peach.” Jim smacked Adalyn’s bare ass hard. She cried out as he pushed her face-first up against the wall.

“Get off of me! I’ll have you fired, Jim,” she yelled, her voice muffled with her face pressed at the odd angle into the wall.

“You can try, but who’s going to believe the nurse that fell in love with a murdering pyro? He’s a fucking nut job.”

“Yeah, you’re one to talk!” I yanked again on the straps. “Look what you’re about to do, so much better than I am,” I taunted, hoping that he would turn his attention on me instead of her. I didn’t care what they did to me, not anymore.

“You shut the fuck up. This is your fault.”

“Don’t do this, Jim. Your issue is with me. Take it out on me instead,” I tried to reason, but I understood the darkness that stared back at me from Jim’s eyes. I got the same look in my eyes when I watched something burn. It filled me with a desire that I couldn’t control. He’d wanted to do this to her, and I’d given him the excuse to push his mind over the edge. Jim planned on taking what he wanted, and right now, that was Adalyn.

“That’s the thing with you, Derek. You don’t care what happens to you, but what happens to her….” Jim reached inside his scrubs and pulled out his cock. “You care a whole lot about, and I’m going to take that from you. I’ll take the only thing you have left and then ship you off, so you’ll never see her again.”

Adalyn fought hard as Jim stared at me. He lifted Adalyn up and forced her to stop fighting. Soon, she just took whatever he gave.

With each sob she made, a coldness gripped my heart and fury burned in my gut. The remaining two men took their turns, and I never looked away from her eyes. If she were going through this, I would endure it with her, and then I would find a way to kill each of them for touching her. She was like a spring flower, sweet and bright and fresh, and they were destroyers of beauty, smashing the delicate flower into the ground. The last bit of my humanity broke with each one of Adalyn’s whimpers.

Jim stuffed his cock into his scrubs after his second round with Adalyn and smirked as he stared down at me. “Remember, West, this was all your fault. Let’s go,” Jim said as he made his way to the door.

“What about her? What if she fucking reports this shit?” The guy ran a hand through his hair. “I mean, should we take her with us?”

Jim turned his stare on Adalyn, who was curled up into a ball, her body shaking as she buried her head into her knees.

“And do what, kill her?”

My blood ran ice cold with the thought of them dragging her from this room and not knowing what they would do to her. Jim shook his head, the feral man now calm.

“No one would believe her. Everyone knows she’s hot after West, and he’s fucking crazy enough to do this himself.” Jim gave me a vicious look as if daring me to speak, but I kept my mouth closed.

I didn’t want them to have another reason to go after Adalyn again.

“Besides, even if they did believe we did it, we could always say she asked for it. Bitches like her are always asking to be used and punished and then cry wolf. Flirting and teasing and then acting all innocent is her specialty. Trust me. The doctor will have our backs.”

“I don’t know, man. This seems like a bad idea. I can toss her over a bridge or some shit.”

Jim’s face screwed up, and he pushed the guy in the chest. “Don’t be so fucking stupid. They have cameras everywhere in here. How are you going to explain dragging her out of the building all bloody and her disappearing? Like that doesn’t look suspicious. Fucking idiot. No, we’ll leave her for now. I want West here to remember forever what he caused to happen.”

Jim looked down at Adalyn, who still hadn’t lifted her head from her knees. “I think she liked it. She got good and wet. Maybe she’ll come begging for more.”

The door slammed closed as they all filed out, and all I could hear was the soft, muffled sobs of the sweetest creature I’d ever met, and my battered soul was crushed into dust.

I stared up at the white ceiling, and a line of tears slowly trickled down my cheek. I hadn’t cried since I was a child. There was no point in crying. It never made anything better, but I cried now. Jim was right about one thing—I’d done this.

“Adalyn, I’m sorry,” I whispered.

There was nothing I could say that would make this better. My eyes closed, unable to take staring at the white of the ceiling any longer and wished that I had some of that tranq now. Anything to wipe away the pain that was flowing throughout my body would be welcomed.
