Hallstein rolled his eyes. “I think that’s already happened.”

“Well, we can pretend it’s our first night together. Oh, do you remember…”

The serious dude’s eyes widened comically as he pressed a frantic hand to Myles’ mouth. “We said we’d never talk about that. Hey, did you just lick my hand?” He yanked his hand back.

Myles grinned. “Take me home and I’ll never breathe a word to anyone.”

Hallstein pressed a quick kiss to his lips. “I love you. I’m never sure why, but I do.”

“Oh, because I’m so clever…”

A pointed look from Hallstein actually had Myles shutting up. Then the serious dude turned back to me. “I’ve got a photo of you in my phone and the bar has surveillance. If Brody doesn’t call me in the morning, there’ll be hell to pay.”

This time, Brody rolled his eyes.

Hallstein glared. First at him, then at me.

I held up my hands to say I mean no harm.

Finally, after what felt like forever, Hallstein let Myles drag him out of the bar.

I let out a breath. “That’s one intense dude.”

Brody met my gaze. “And you seem to be too. Now tell me why you’re so convinced we’ve met.”

Chapter Five

Brody

Something was tickling the edges of my mind. Not that I knew this guy. That was a hard no. Because I’d never forget a guy this cute. Short hair, stunningly dark eyes and adorable pouty lips. Just…cute. And, if I had to guess, clearly into guys. Well, at least not creeped out by gay couples.

Does that make him gay? Bi? Bi curious? Straight and polite? I just didn’t know.

“Bye, Brody.” Teri waved frantically at me—as if I could somehow miss her. “Thanks for the Shirley Temple idea…that was brilliant.”

I waved goodnight at her, then turned back to Robbie who had an eyebrow arched. Heat raced to my cheeks. I cleared my throat. “So I needed an excuse to check you out, at Hallstein’s insistence, and suggesting Teri get another drink was the best I could come up with. She didn’t want booze, so I suggested—”

“A Shirley Temple.”

I nodded.

“And the guy, Hallstein, everyone calls him by his last name?”

“What?” I blinked. “Oh, no, that’s his first name. I…” I squinted. “Nope, I can’t remember his last name. I do remember not to call him Hallsy which is Myles’s nickname for him. Made that mistake once. Never will again.” Damn, what was Hallstein’s last name anyway?

“Yeah, I wouldn’t dare call him anything other than sir.” Robbie shifted.

I leaned in. “He’s former RCMP. And we had a shooting on set earlier this year—before he took over his job. Nothing that could have been prevented, but…”

Robbie’s eyes had gone wide. “You’re talking about the Cole Hamilton shooting?”

I nodded.

He snapped his fingers. “And I just spotted…Dade something, right? He’s a new guy in Vigilante Justice.”

New guy was relative as Dade was in his second season, but he’d been a late addition last season, so he still felt new to some viewers.

“You work on Vigilante Justice?”
