He kept his voice low and whispered in her ear.

“Lass, there’s magick here. Look for it and take the signs as you see them. Because wishes do come true when you hold them in your heart.”

She hoped so.

Because she needed that one wish more than anything.

Before she could say anything, he pointed.

“Oh, look, we’re back by the fountain. I think that’s a sign your wish will come true.”

Time would tell.

He was curious.

“Better?” he asked. “Am I forgiven for bruising your heart, Lass?”

That was a no-brainer.

“Absolutely. Thank you, Finn. I appreciate having someone talk some sense into me.”

And that was what friends were for, after all.

No?

In fact, they picked you up when you were down on your luck and gave you a little pep talk.

It appeared his work here was done.

Gabby chimed in.

“Let’s shop. I want to spend some money,” she said. “You know, since my husband is buying flowers for pretty women behind my back.”

He laughed.

“You were literally right behind me, Gabriella. Don’t get sassy. One sassy woman in the village at a time.”

Elizabeth was amused.

Oh, and speaking of money…

She owed Gabby some for locating Devon Slater. She’d pay her and then put that man out of her mind so she could heal and find that magick here.

“Pull out your phone.”

Gabby was confused, but she did what she asked.

That was when Elizabeth turned hers on quickly and pulled up her app to transfer money from her account.

It was risky when it came to being tracked, but she owed the woman this for a job well done.

Touching her phone to Gabby’s, they all heard the chime as the transfer happened.

Immediately, a pop-up on her screen told the tale.

Oh, and it was a huge thing too.

“Jesus!” she said. “Elizabeth. I told you no! I can’t accept this!”
