He took me along with him, so that he could give me a tour of the aircraft. This was probably one of the things that him, and I bonded the most with. He was super knowledgeable when it came to anything plane related. I was the same way, and I was always thirsty to learn new information, so when he explained anything to me about this aircraft that I didn’t know already, I would mentally store it.
He took me around the entire plane. I thought that I was blown away by the exterior of it, but once we were inside, my mouth really hit the floor. This was going to be one of the private jets. Suspicion got the best of me, so while the two of us stood up, after he finished giving me a tour, I looked him in his eyes.
“How much ya’ll chartering it for? This shit so nice,” I said to him, seating down in one of the seats, just wanting to test it out.
“Twenty racks an hour,” he responded. I let out a whistling noise once he said that. That was nice. I liked that price.
He told me about the inquiries that they already had on it. You could hear the love and the joy that my pops had when it came to this business. Hearing that love, and joy, one would question what made him walk away from it. He’s invested so many years into this business that I think he reached a point where he wants to sit back and enjoy the fruits of his labor. He had sons to look after the business too. I didn’t think that he would ever fully step down from the business and choose not to have any involvement with it. Too much hustle still lived in him.
He ended up taking a seat down as well. It was just the two of us on the plane. I knew he was about to lay something deep on me. Something heavy, and I was prepared for it.
“I know over the years that me, and you don’t always see eye to eye. I feel like you’re the child of mine that reminds me so much of myself. Your hustle, your grind, and the way you think. We’ve clashed. Both said some hurtful shit to each other over the years. All the shit that we’ve been through though, I think the one thing that you’ve ever done to me that hurts me till this day is when you decided to walk away from the company. You chose to walk away from something that I knew I wanted to build since you, or any of your brothers were thought of. I knew that I didn’t want to bring boys into this world and have them moving dope like I did. I wanted my sons to be better than me. I wanted ya’ll to make better decisions than me, that’s why I opened this business, so that I could have something legit to pass down to ya’ll,” he started.
I let him speak. I could tell that he had a lot to get off his chest, so I let him have that.
“I love all four of my sons the same. Wolf, you different though. Looking at you, I see so much of myself in you. You hustle from sunup to sundown. Even as a little boy, you were always much different from your brothers. I used to bring the four of ya’ll down here as kids, and the three of them just wanted to play and run around, but not you. You were eager to learn everything about these planes. Thirsty for this information. I always knew that I would step down, and you would be the one running this shit. All this is supposed to belong to you, with just your brother’s assistance. You walked away from it, and that’s the one thing that you’ve done that’s hurt me,” he finished.
“You know why I did what I did. I don’t condone the way you move when it comes to Emaye. I’m not like my brothers. I can’t just turn the other cheek when it comes to the way that you disrespect her. Any time I would come to you about it, you would be so quick to get defensive and tell me to stay out of your marriage. That just wasn’t a good feeling, man. I can’t be beefing with a nigga, and work for them. I had to separate myself. Shit, I had dreams too. I thought it was dope that my brothers and I could run the company that our pops built on his back. Shit didn’t work out that way though. Had I stuck around, I would have grown to hate your ass, and I just don’t want it to get that far,” I voiced.
You could tell it wasn’t what he wanted to hear, but he listened, and he respected it. He switched gears, wanting to know how things were going within my business. I told him, and after we wrapped that up, we eventually left the aircraft. We made it back outside, where my dad called all my brothers over. He wanted to take pictures.
There were photographers here that snapped multiple pictures of us together. He had my mom come over as well, so that she could be in some of the photos. Once that was over with, I tried to walk away, but Kendrix tapped me on my chest, getting my attention.
“Ay nigga, I got a bone to pick with you. You went to Playground last night?” Kendrix asked me, getting straight to the point.
“Somebody told you that they saw me in Playground last night?” I asked him.
“Yeah. They did,” there was aggression all in his voice. I guess the nigga was telling the truth when he told me that he had a bone to pick with me.
“So that answers your question then,” I let him know.
“They also told me that they saw you walking through the parking lot with Poison. What’s that about? Explain that to me,” he went on to say.
“Nigga, explain what to you? I went to the club because I needed to talk to her about something. I saw her at Range Rover a few days ago. She was having issues with her car while I was there to pick mine up. She was getting ready to get in an Uber with this weird looking ass nigga, but I stopped it. I ended up taking her home. It ain’t like I had her phone number or anything, so I pulled up on her at the club, just to ask her how everything was going with her car,” I finished, and once I was done, he had a look on his face as if I was full of shit.
“Man, Wolf get the fuck out of here with that shit. You drove to the club at two in the morning to ask a bitch how everything was going with her car? I don’t believe that shit for a second. Admit that you’re standing in line like the rest of us, wanting a chance to fuck. Didn’t I tell you back at the club that I was crushing on her, and how I would feel some kind of way if you tried to get at her? Nigga, I was serious when I said that!” he spat.
Seeing the way his chest poked out, the veins protruded in his neck, and the fact that there wasn’t a hint of a smile on his face, proved to me that he was dead ass serious.
“Man, chill the fuck out. You doing way too fuckin much. I told you exactly why I went out to the club. I gave her a ride home that night, and I pulled up on her, just to make sure everything was straight with her car. You said that you been crushing on her for a lil minute, right? If she wanted to fuck with you on that level, she would have done so already. You, Kingston, and Demarco run around fuckin all these hoes. You’ll be aight if you can’t get this one. Watch out, man,” I pushed his ass, so that I could walk away from him. I didn’t like the way he just came at me. Nigga pulled me to the side and tried to check me.
Last night was cool getting to know Deja in the car, but truthfully, I wasn’t expecting for it to go any further than that. She was stuck on that nigga, and I wasn’t about to be the man to come around, keep trying to remind her of her worth, so that she could leave him. I genuinely did come to the club last night to check on her and see how things worked out with her car.
At the same time, I couldn’t get that goofy ass nigga Hitta out of my mind, and the way he sat there at my shop, and casually showed his homeboy intimate shit between the two of them. Maybe I was tripping, but I felt like I was sent to be the nigga to come into her life and look out for her.
The way she hated men, and the way she carried on, thinking that all men weren’t shit, and how we were all going to dog her ass out, I don’t think that I was going to be able to get through to her anyways. Kendrix could pipe the fuck down because the way it was looking, there might not even be a thing to come out of me, and Deja,
CHAPTER 10
DEJA MCCOY
Ijust pulled up to my grandma’s house. It was so crowded that I couldn’t get a spot in the driveway. I wasn’t too upset about it because I didn’t have plans of being over here too long, and I didn’t want to park in the driveway, and chance someone pulling behind me, blocking me in.
The reason I didn’t plan to stay over too long is because I was tired. I was running off about two hours of sleep. My godsister, Eden went into labor last night. I ended up having to call out from the club, so that I could go to the hospital, and be there with her. My godsister was way too close to me for me to miss out on her bringing my little baby into this world. She had a baby girl that she named Selah. Selah showed us last night just how stubborn she could be because she didn’t make her grand entrance until about 11 this morning, knowing that we’d all been waiting for her to come on since last night.
I left the hospital around three this afternoon, and once I got home, I was able to lay down for about two hours, and then I had to get ready for this family get together that my grandma was throwing at her house. My uncle Troy was released from prison yesterday, so just like any other typical black family, my grandma wanted to throw a welcome home party, as if it was a celebration.
I wasn’t that excited to come because I knew that my mom was going to be here. An argument between the two of us was always bound to happen whenever we got around each other. Not only that, but I knew that my uncle and I were going to get into it about my career choice. He didn’t approve of it. In the past, he would piss me off when he tried to take on that role and pretend that he was my fuckin daddy. If I wasn’t for my grandma calling me this morning, and threatening me to come, I wouldn’t be in attendance.
