“If you’re into history and books you should go to the Morgan Library and the New York City library. If you want to get an authentic experience of doing what the locals do, avoid hanging out in Time Square. Take the subway and walk the streets. You never know what you’re going to find just by walking from one destination to the next,” Liam explained.
That sounded like more of what I wanted to experience.
“And since you’re here for five days, I’d say take it easy. You have time so don’t try to squeeze everything in one or two days. Walk the neighborhoods, see a Broadway show, do the tours,” he added.
“That sounds perfect to me.” It really did. He was right, we had time to do what we wanted. We didn’t need to kill ourselves, especially our feet, to see everything at once.
I could feel this conversation wrapping up and panic was setting in. I couldn’t let him walk away without plans to see him again.
Sophia glanced at me, and I widened my eyes trying to convey my worry. “You know, if you guys have some time this week to show us around, we’d really appreciate getting a more authentic experience.”
I could kiss her. I was so grateful for her saying what I couldn’t. This girl was best friend material.
Liam and Elijah looked at each other and seemed to be communicating mentally.
Elijah shrugged. “Yeah, sure.”
I let out the breath I’d been holding and waited for Liam to confirm.
“I have class in a few minutes and another one this evening, but tomorrow I only have a morning class and rehearsal at five. Eli, you’re open, right?”
“Yeah, just a study group in the morning.”
“Perfect.” Sophia continued the plans while I stood back shocked. They said yes. We were going to hang out tomorrow. I was going to spend time with my soulmate tomorrow.
“April, we have each other’s numbers so I’ll give you a call when we’re ready and we’ll find a place to meet up.”
“Sounds great.” I smiled at him to hide the fact that I wanted to throw up.
This was happening. I really met the one and I had the next five days to make him fall in love with me.
He smiled and my heart beat faster. “You guys have fun today and we’ll see you tomorrow.”
Elijah waved and they turned and headed back in the direction of the university.
Once they were out of earshot, I let out a tiny scream and spun around. “I cannot believe that just happened.”
Sophia watched me with a huge smile. “It almost didn’t. What happened to you? You just froze up!”
I shrugged. “I realized I was staring at my soulmate, and it was really happening, and I only have a few days to get to him fall in love with me.”
“Ah. Yes, that would cause anyone to freak out. Don’t worry though. We’ll see them tomorrow and operation ‘make Liam love you’ with be in full effect.”
“Thank you.”
Her smile grew and she looped her arm through mine. “Don’t worry, you’ll pay me back eventually.”
I had no doubt she would collect, but it would all be worth it in the end. As long as I didn’t scare him off in the meantime.
Chapter 10
Since the guys were hopefully going to take us to do the sights that were off the beaten path, Sophia and I decided to head down to see the Statue of Liberty by ourselves. She recommended that we take the Staten Island Ferry instead of one of the smaller boats since we didn’t have a reservation to climb to the top of the crown.
“The views are just as good, and it’s free.”
“I’m sold.”
She navigated us through the subways to where the ferry terminal was located. I was shocked at the enormous, and quite modern, building. After walking around the subways stations this place looked like a palace.
