My jaw dropped. “The one in New York?”
He smiled. “That’s the one.”
“You really think I could be on that?”
Chloe gave me a look like I clearly didn’t know who I was talking to.
“Trust me, with Chloe anything is possible,” Jake said with a laugh.
“The first step should be getting your business set up. You can’t really start taking on clients until that piece is in place,” Reese offered. “It’s not very hard or time-consuming, but it is the starting point.”
“Okay,” Maybe it was a good thing I was already thinking of business names.
“Yes, but to do that you need to decide where you want to be located.” Chloe leaned forward. “Have you decided that?”
No. I’d only known I was out of a job for twenty-four hours. I hadn’t made any decisions. “Not yet.”
“Well, I’m biased, but Salt Lake would be a great place to consider. The cost of living is relatively low, creating a business is easy and inexpensive as well, and you would have plenty of support and contacts.”
Jake had already said that last part, but hearing it from her was different. She didn’t have a personal stake in the decision.
“As a matter of fact, Amelia and Elena were talking about asking you to plan their weddings when the time comes,” Mikey announced.
“When were you going to tell us that?” Jake asked with a chuckle.
He shrugged. “I just remembered.”
“They really said that?” Without me around?
“Yeah, last night. I think you and Jake had already left, but they both said the wedding was perfect and were wondering if you would come to Salt Lake to plan theirs.”
Two more hockey weddings?
“Plus, Addison and Grant need to make it official,” Lance said. “Oh and Lucy and Colin. I’m surprised they didn’t elope here. Maybe Hartman and Kendall stole the idea before they had a chance.”
Another two couples? Would they really all want me to plan their big days?
“That’s not even counting the guys from the basketball team. Once Amelia refers you, they’ll all want you too,” Reese said with a laugh. “They do anything she says.”
“I’m pretty sure they’re afraid of her,” Mikey agreed.
I shook my head, “Amelia? The cute little brunette?”
“She was their team trainer for a little while and didn’t let them push her around. I think they half love her and half fear her even though she doesn’t work on them anymore,” Jake explained.
Holy crap. These people really were connected.
“Focus, guys.” Chloe brought us back. “The decision of where you go after this is up to you, but know that you have all of the Fury backing you if you want to move to Salt Lake. Sydney’s pool house is open again so you could stay there. Or our house. Although, our son Callan has been teething again recently, so you’d have to be able to sleep through his crying.”
They were offering me places to stay now? It was beginning to sound too good to be true. I wanted to jump at the chance, but what would Jake think? Or the rest of the team and the Pride. I didn’t want anyone thinking I was chasing him.
“Yeah, we can help you find an apartment or house eventually, but know that there are plenty of places for you to stay until you get on your feet.” Reese’s words made my heart swell in my chest.
Were they always this welcoming to outsiders? Maybe that was why their group was so tight. They treated each other like family.
Not that I was really in their group.
Jake and I weren’t together. I mean, in a relationship.
