“Emma’s on her way there. She’ll be with the boys. She’s calling the rest of the Pride. They’ll take care of all three of them until we get there.” Olli’s words should have made me feel better, but I was pretty sure I was going to be sick.

“I have to get there.”

“Our flight doesn’t leave for five more hours,” Hartman said before grabbing his phone. He disappeared from my view.

“They’re going to be fine,” Reese tried to comfort me while typing on his phone.

Milo and Finn were probably so scared. They were hurt and alone. I needed to get to my sons. I couldn’t let myself think too hard about Sydney. She had to be okay. She had to be.

“Mason’s letting us use his plane. It’s ready to go at the airport,” Hartman announced while he packed up my bag.

“Just leave it. The guys can get our stuff later.” Olli offered me a hand to help me stand and in a blur, we were in the parking garage, then a SUV, then on the tarmac. A sleek white jet with San Diego’s team logo was waiting for us.

“How’d you get him to let us borrow it?” Reese asked as we climbed the stairs and took our seats.

“I just had to say Cullen’s boys were in an accident. He offered before I could ask.”

“Huh. I guess they don’t hate us as much as I thought they did,” Olli said.

“At the end of the day, we’re all hockey players. We’re family,” Hartman replied while he looked out the window.

“We’ll be arriving in an hour and a half,” the pilot said before shutting the door.

I stared straight ahead as we took off.

“Emma got to the hospital. They’re letting her sit with the boys,” Olli announced before he leaned back against his seat.

That was an immense relief, but it didn’t help with not knowing how Sydney was doing.

I knew the guys were working on getting information. All I could do was focus on keeping it together. I couldn’t lose it. Not until I knew.

“Do you want me to have Chloe reach out to Olivia?” Reese asked quietly after we’d been in the air for a while.

I closed my eyes. I should have thought to call her sooner. She should know about the accident, but I didn’t want her to come. Not after what she’d done.

She might have a right to know, but she didn’t have custody of them. She didn’t get to see them unless I agreed.

“Not until we get there and we know how they’re doing. I’d rather tell her they’re just fine and let her video call with them than have her fly out.”

“Got it.”

The last thing I wanted was to see her. I could only handle so many disasters at a time.

Sydney

Pain. That was the first thing I recognized. Everything hurt. A lot. I slowly opened my eyes and realized I was in a hospital room, but why?

I tried to look around, but my neck was too sore to move.

What happened? I tried to focus on what I remembered. Picking up the boys. Snow cones. Blue and red and pink.

Fear.

Panic.

The cars. Suddenly, it came back. We were being followed. Cars with cameras aimed at us. Milo screamed. The massive SUV coming at us.
