They took me down to the basement where another guest room and theater room were located. There was more down there, but they didn’t seem to care to show me everything, just their favorite places. Back on the main floor, they pointed out their dad’s office and I got a quick look in. I didn’t notice before, but all the memorabilia was hockey related. I guessed that was Brandon’s favorite sport.

“Come on, Sydney.” Finn pulled my hand to follow him through the stunning yet cozy living room to the wall of glass doors that overlooked the backyard. There was a pool with a rock formation that created two slides and a playset that nearly put the one yesterday to shame. It was three stories tall with a zip line, rock wall, and at least five slides. Why would they ever want to leave their house when they had all of this at their fingertips?

Nannying with this much to entertain them was going to be a cinch.

“Boys, come eat,” Brandon called from the door that led to the kitchen several yards from me. I headed toward him as the boys came running in.

He had eggs and dark, nearly black, toast ready for them at the island and they quickly claimed their seats and dug in. While they were eating, Brandon moved toward me.

“Like I said yesterday, most mornings I can take them to preschool unless I’m out of town or we have an early game so I have to be to the arena early.”

I nodded then paused. “The arena?”

He eyed me before turning to the boys. “Hey, less talking and more eating. We can’t be late today.” When they were focused, he returned to me. “Yeah, that’s where practices are as well as games.”

I quickly ran through everything the women told me about him. Not much. He had a bunch of hockey stuff, maybe he was an agent. I looked around the kitchen and panicked. Was he the team owner? This guy was obviously wealthy, but I didn't realize it was like own a team crazy money.

“Right.” I was too embarrassed to ask what he did. I should have probably covered that at the park. I’d figure it out eventually. Maybe the boys would clue me in later.

“You can bring the boys to practices if you want. Chloe, Emma, and Kendall are usually there with the rest of the women from the Pride.”

“The Pride?” I asked, clearing missing something.

“Yeah the wives and girlfriends. They’re really nice. I’m sure you’ll get along with them.”

What on earth? The wives and girlfriends of who? And what practice? I couldn’t wait. I had to know.

“Brandon,” I interrupted. “I’m confused. What exactly do you do?”

He raised an eyebrow. “Did they not tell you my position?”

I shook my head, relieved he understood.

“I’m a center.”

I blinked at him wondering if I’d misheard. Was that corporate lingo I didn’t know?

“A center?” I hated how dumb I was sounding, but I was getting more stumped by the second.

“Yeah, on the offense.”

Center. Offense. Those were sports words. I nodded along like I finally got it.

“Daddy’s the best center in the league,” Milo said with a proud grin.

“I think Hartman might argue that,” Brandon teased back. I smiled like I was in on the joke. Hartman? Who was that?

“Can we go to the game?” Finn asked. “You promised we could go to a game this week.”

Milo watched his brother before joining in and nodding in sync.

“Not tonight, let’s give Sydney a chance to settle in. How about Monday?” Brandon sighed and looked at me. “Would you mind? I did promise them if they were good they could come.”

As if I had a clue what I was agreeing to I smiled. “Sure.”

His shoulders relaxed. “Thanks. I’ll have the front office reserve tickets for you guys.”

He wasn’t going to be there with us? Where would he be?
