I turned to her and hesitated when I saw her grin. “What?”

“We both need some fun. We’re workaholics being forced to take a break. Let’s really go for it.”

“What does that mean?” She was making me nervous.

“We need to do something to remind us we’re young, hot and available!”

This was going in a bad direction. “Like what?”

She looked around. “We’re going to find some handsome, single men to help us.” I started shaking my head, but she was on a roll. “It’s perfect. We’ll each find a man to take our minds off the fact that we’re single and here for our friend’s bachelorette party. Doomed yet again to be the bridesmaids.”

This was not a good plan. It was terrible in fact. A woman like Elena could snap her fingers and five men would flock at the chance to spend time with her.

I was not Elena.

I was generally the type that got overlooked by the opposite sex. Sure, hanging around Elena would bring more attention, but I’d probably end up as the wing woman.

I knew how this story ended and I wasn’t in the mood.

“I don’t know, Elena. That doesn’t sound –“

She held up her hand. “Just give me one night. If we don’t find anyone tonight, I’ll drop it. I promise.”

“What are we supposed to do with them?” I was dreading the answer, but she just laughed.

“We’re going to get them to buy us a drink.”

I narrowed my eyes. “I don’t drink.”

She waved off my concern. “A virgin daiquiri.”

“This is an all-inclusive resort. They don’t need to pay for the drinks.”

Her smile grew. “That’s what makes it fun. It’s not a big deal. It’s just going to push us out of our comfort zones a bit.”

I doubted this would be as fun as she thought, but I decided that for once I wouldn’t be the fun sucker.

“Fine. Just one night.”

We ate for a few minutes before she sat up, her eyes widening. “Oh.”

I looked around to see a large group walk in, filling the small lobby. The men were large, and the women were beautiful. Each man seemed to tower over everyone else in the room. The serves took immediate notice, whispering and nodding to one another. They gave off a vibe of importance or entitlement. Like they were used to the stares and expected it. I glanced over a few times but didn’t want to get caught staring.

Elena was at the table when I returned. “That’s them.”

“What?”

“Those tall, dark, and handsome specimens by the doors.”

I rolled my eyes. “You mean the ones with their beautiful wives.”

She shook her head. “There’s seven men and only five women. Two singles just for us.”

“How’d you count that fast?”

“Practice.” She wiggled her eyebrows and I laughed.

“What if they aren’t interested?”
