I nodded and looked around. “Do you want to say goodbye to the others?”

“I already did. Plus, I’ll see them all soon.”

We followed the path through the store and made it safely to her gate. I looked at the screen that said SFO. “This is it.”

“For two weeks,” she assured me.

“What do you mean? Did you already book a flight?”

“No, I think I have more than a carry-on’s worth to bring.”

I narrowed my eyes. “What are you talking about?”

“I got an email just before we left the resort. My boss arranged for the transfer.” She paused and gave my shocked brain a chance to catch up. “I’m moving to Salt Lake, Colin.”

“You’re serious?”

She grinned, and I pulled her into a tight hug.

“You’re squishing me.” Her voice came out in a gasp.

“Sorry. I just can’t believe it's all coming together.”

“I know. We both get to keep our jobs, and we get to be together.”

I leaned in and kissed her without a single care the rest of the world could see. “Thank you for doing this, Lucy.”

She kissed my cheek and smiled. “Don’t make me regret it.”

Even though she was kidding, I knew there was a real threat to her words. “I promise I won’t.”

The announcement to board her flight came over the speakers.

“It’s time.” She said with sad eyes.

“Two weeks.”

She brightened. “Can you help me look for a place?”

“You can move in with me.” I couldn’t believe I was having to tell her that. Didn’t she know?

“Not yet. We’re still a brand-new couple. Let’s get to know each other again before moving in together.”

I looked at the ceiling and she laughed. “You’ll survive. We need some time to adjust to things, then we’ll see what happens.”

“Fine.”

“I love you, Colin Brassard.”

I kissed her. “I love you, Lucy Royston.”

She took her bag and stepped away, not breaking eye contact. When she got close to the gate entrance, she blew a kiss and turned away. I watched her go until she was out of sight.

Two weeks.

I could wait that long.

I went to my gate and found the rest of the group.
