I chuckled to myself as I approached our room. Wouldn't that just be the ending this needed. I get everything together, and he doesn't know how to play the song.

I blew out my breath. I’d managed to make it this far. Nothing was going to stop me, if we needed to bring out speakers we could.

I opened the door and Grant opened his eyes and yawned. “What’s up?”

“Can you play Love of My Life?”

“Queen?”

I nodded.

“It’s been a while since I tried.”

“Can you learn it?”

He chuckled. “Sure, when we get back home, I’ll learn it and serenade you.”

“No, I need you to learn it for tomorrow.”

His eyes bugged out. “What?”

“Can you?”

“I don’t have a guitar.”

“Erik’s getting you one.”

He finally sat up and grabbed his phone from the nightstand. “I’m sure I can figure it out, but why?”

“Lucy’s staying. I need to pull out all the stops to get her to realize that we belong together.”

“And that involves this song?”

I nodded. “I’m recreating the first time we said I love you to each other.”

“Huh.”

“What?”

“Nothing. I’m just impressed.”

“Would it make more sense if I told you it was Chloe’s idea?”

He laughed. “Yes, it would.”

“Erik and Wyatt are helping me put everything together, but I need to plan what I’m going to say.”

“Good idea.”

I sat on the bed across from him. “You don’t think it’s stupid?”

“No way. It can come from the heart in the moment, but this is your only chance. You cannot screw this up.”

That was comforting.

“Right.”

“I’ll give you some space. Guess I should go try to find Erik.”
