The wood of the massive desk bites into my bare thighs, a cool contrast to the heat radiating from Enzo’s skin. Scattered documents stick to my damp back, the ruined ledgers of a fallen Don serving as the mattress for my coronation. I kick the garments away, my bare skin exposed to the cool air of the study, feeling beautifully vulnerable and infinitely powerful at the exact same time. Enzo unzips his trousers, freeing his length, his gaze roaming over my exposed flesh with a dark, consuming hunger.

"You claimed your throne tonight, mia bella," he whispers, his hands gripping my thighs, holding me open for him. "Now I am going to claim you."

He drives himself inside me with a singular, spectacular thrust that pushes me to the brink of my limits. A loud, shameless cry rips from my throat, my fingernails digging into the muscular expanse of his shoulders as my inner muscles clamp around him. The fullness is intoxicating.

Enzo hips slap against mine with a violent enthusiasm that makes the desk groan in protest. I wrap my legs around his waist, locking him flush against my body, riding the chaotic wave of pleasure building in my lower belly. He bites the sensitive skin of my neck, his teeth grazing the blooming bruises he left days ago, re-establishing his ownership over every inch of my being.

The scent of death and gunpowder surrounding us only serves to amplify the eroticism of the encounter. We are two predators fucking in the ruins of our enemies. My mind fragments into a beautiful, hazy bliss.

"Look at me," he commands, his pace stuttering as he withdraws almost all the way before burying himself to the hilt again.

I force my eyes open, meeting his icy, burning gaze.

"I am yours," I sob, the orgasm crashing over me in blinding wave. My body convulses around his length, milking him of his own release. Enzo groans and empties his climax inside me, his forehead resting against mine as we ride out the tremors together.

We remain tangled on the desk for some time, eventually, Enzo pulls back, smoothing a stray lock of hair away from my sweat-dampened forehead before pressing a soft, reverent kiss to my lips.

"We need to move," he murmurs. "Giancarlo cannot hold the perimeter forever, and the local authorities will inevitably investigate the explosion."

I nod, reaching down to retrieve my discarded clothing. I dress with a functional efficiency, stepping back into my jeans and pulling my sweater over my head. My body aches in the most satisfying way possible.

Before we abandon the room, I turn my attention to the large oil painting hanging crookedly on the wall behind the desk. My grandfather built this empire with honor, cementing the Vitiello name through respect and calculated alliances. My uncle hoarded the wealth like a frightened dragon, hiding behind biometric scanners and hired guns because he lacked the courage to lead. Salvatore and my uncle failed to access the hidden safe because they panicked, rushing the scan and inputting the incorrect alphanumeric sequence.

I know the failsafe codes. I memorized them years ago by watching the reflection of the keypad in the silver tea service my grandfather used to keep on the credenza.

I step over my uncle’s body, avoiding the pooling blood, and swing the painting outward on its concealed hinges. The biometric scanner is flashing a warning error, currently locked out due to multiple failed attempts. The secondary manual keypad remains active, the small green numbers illuminating the corner of the study. I quickly punch in the eight-digit override code. The thick steel door clicks, swinging open to reveal stacks of bearer bonds, velvet boxes containing heirloom jewelry, and a single, black leather-bound ledger.

I ignore the money and the diamonds. The currency is useless if we do not understand the incoming threats. I grab the ledger, flipping open the thick pages. The columns are densely packed with handwritten ciphers and encrypted transit routes, the exact logistical records my uncle kept hidden from the rest of the family.

I scan the recent entries, my eyes catching on a specific set of coordinates and a sequence of nautical identifiers matching the Severato private shipping line. The numbers form a terrifying narrative that instantly drains the remaining adrenaline from my system.

"Enzo," I say, my voice tight as I stare at the ink on the page.

He steps up beside me, his gaze dropping to the ledger in my hands. "What did you find?"

"It was not just a financial transaction," I explain, tracing the decrypted flight paths and port schedules with my index finger. "Roberto Severato wasn't just funding Salvatore’s coup from the safety of Boston. He used the chaos as a distraction to move his own personal guard across the Atlantic." I look up, meeting Enzo's suddenly rigid gaze, understanding the magnitude of the information. "Your father is coming to personally absorb the island's ports."

The unmarked transport van jolts over the uneven, unpaved roads leading away from the Vitiello estate, the worn suspension groaning in protest as Giancarlo pushes the engine to its limits. I sit in the passenger seat, the glow of my encrypted laptop casting a harsh, pale light over the dashboard. In the back, the surviving operators of the Severato assault squad are busy checking their magazines and tending to minor grazes.

We burned the fucking castle down, I muse, glancing in the rearview mirror to catch a glimpse of the woman sitting just behind me.

Elena stares out the tinted window at the passing Sicilian countryside, her face illuminated by the occasional passing streetlight. She just executed her own uncle. She shot him in the chest, watching the life drain from his eyes, and she did not shed a single tear. She sits there with her spine straight, her hands resting calmly in her lap, looking every bit the ruthless sovereign she was born to be. The chaotic, blinding high of our encounter on the mahogany desk still thrums in my veins.

"The local authorities are definitely going to notice the fireworks show we left behind," Giancarlo remarks, keeping his eyes fixed on the winding road ahead. His massive hands grip the steering wheel with a relaxed confidence. "I give it twenty minutes before the fire department and the Carabinieri swarm the hill. By the time they sift through the rubble, we will be ghosts."

"Make sure the boys scatter the transport vehicles in different sectors of Palermo," I instruct, returning my focus to the laptop screen. "I want zero evidence linking the Boston faction to the massacre tonight. As far as the underworld is concerned, Don Vitiello was eliminated by an internal coup. Elena is the sole surviving heir."

"Consider it done, Boss," Giancarlo grunts, taking a hard left turn that throws us toward the outskirts of the city.

I pull a flash drive from my tactical vest and insert it into the side port of my terminal. Before we abandoned the study, I used a portable scanner to copy the encrypted ledger Elena discovered in the hidden safe. I launch my decryption software, my fingers flying across the keys as I route the data through three separate offshore servers to mask my digital footprint. The handwritten ciphers and nautical identifiers begin translating into plain text across my screen, verifying the terrifying reality Elena deduced back in the estate.

I met with my godfather right here in Palermo just weeks ago. He smiled at me, drank expensive wine, and tried to get into my head. It was all a masterful, manipulative lie. The ledger proves Roberto used Salvatore’s rebellion as a convenient smokescreen. While I was busy hunting down Volkov mercenaries and dealing with the Vitiello bounty, Roberto was actively positioning his own personal guard across the island, securing the shipping ports for a hostile takeover.

He wants to crush Boston and absorb Sicily in one fell swoop, turning himself into an untouchable emperor.
