“We should let her rest,” I say, catching a hint of her arousal, and I don’t want anyone else smelling that. It’s a scent reserved for me and me alone.
No, wait, it fucking isn’t. I have to remember that, but despite knowing that, I still want them out.
Delsanra nods as she motions Kaden to come.
“But why is Sienna in Jayce’s room?” he asks suspiciously, now looking around and clearly deducing it’s my room.
“Because they’re mates,” Katara explains.
I frown at her before glancing at Dad. I still need to tell him about her mental state, but I need a moment to breathe and rest.
They all leave the room, and Raihana shuts the door behind her.
I hesitate, shoving my hands in my pockets.
Do I leave? I don’t know what is best, but I don’t want to leave her alone, not after she almost died.
“Do you want anything to eat?” I ask emotionlessly.
She shakes her head, and a heavy pause lingers in the air.
“Sorry for worrying you. I didn’t even realise I was that tired; it was odd.” She frowns slightly, biting her lip as the scent of her arousal grows stronger. My nostrils flare, and I clear my throat, feeling myself hardening in my pants.
Not fucking now.
“I wasn’t…” That’s a lie that not even an idiot would buy.
A tense silence falls between us, pulling tight across the room. Neither of us speaks, and she swallows as I scan the room, remembering the time she sang whilst I played the guitar.
When she liked me for me, before all the complications, when things were easy.
I glance back at her; her red eyes are fixed on me, her heart hammering.
There’s so much I’m fucking feeling right now, so many things I want to resolve within me, so many things that still fucking hurt. There’s so much that I want to ask her, so much I want to fucking tell her, but right now in the silence of the room, where the chance to ask is right before me, I’m unable to put together even one proper sentence.
She winces as she hugs herself, the duvet slipping down, revealing her hardened nipples that press against the wet fabric of her bra, her breasts heaving.
I drag my gaze up to her eyes, and she knows exactly where my attention has fallen.
“I’m tired. It hurts too bad. We can’t continue like this.” She brushes a strand of her curls behind her ear. “Shall we just get this over with? It doesn’t need to mean anything. We’ll both be back to our normal selves. And once I step out of this room, I’ll pretend it never happened.”
The last part is a bit hesitant, but for the most part, she means it.
It’s my choice now.
I don’t know how long I can continue like this either, but knowing that she’ll have to mark me for me to recover makes me hesitate. It means I’ll be tied to her forever. I already am, but being entirely bound would change things for both of us.
Right now, she feels my emotions, which I’ve kept mostly blocked off. Once the bond is complete, it will be harder to resist her.
My heart clenches painfully.
She lets out a small whimper of pain, biting her lip and drawing blood. Her heat is returning with full vengeance. The moment she gasps, fisting the blankets, I make up my mind.
I cut across the room in three strides, removing my hoodie and tossing it to the floor as I stand over her.
“Deal,” I say, my voice rough as I yank the duvet from her loose grip. Her heart pounds as I straddle her and wrap my hand around her neck with one hand, shoving the pillows off the bed with the other.
And then my lips are on hers, in a kiss that’s as rough and brutal as it is fucking explosive, sending jolts of pleasure coursing through me.
