I blink. “I don’t know.” It never occurred to me to ask. “I was in more of the, I won’t tell anybody, I don’t really know anything mode. Not that it worked. He still tried to kill me.”

He pulls off my bra and then lifts me to lay me on the bed. He starts kissing my chest, teasing my nipples with his tongue. I’ve got solid, perky C to D cups, with nice round quarter-sized nipples.

I arch up, my fingers digging into his hair as he sucks one of the nipples completely in his mouth.

“You are so gorgeous,” he rumbles, before he shifts to the other breast.

I whimper, pushing up even higher in clear invitation. I am so open to this man that I hook my leg around his, attempting to pull his hips into mine. I’m in nothing but a thong, while he’s fully dressed.

He resists. “I want to hear more.”

I huff out my frustration. “Why?”

“I told you…” He lifts up, pressing his chest to mine before he kisses my lips. “I want to give you what you need.”

“What about me cried out this girl needs to confess?” I shouldn’t have asked. He’s going to say something about my bright orange hair or my super short skirt.

He kisses me again, his tongue tangling with mine. Then he lifts up. “The hurt look in your eyes.”

“Oh,” I whisper before he pushes up and yanks his shirt over his chest. Muscles ripple as I watch his tattoos dance over his skin. He looks even better than I imagined.

“I fathered both my daughters while their mother was married to another man. She passed the children off as his, but he still knew the truth.”

My mouth falls open as I add that detail to the one he gave before about his daughters not speaking to him. “Oh.”

That’s when my phone starts blowing up. I hear the text messages come through in rapid fire from my purse.

Sver reaches for the bag on the floor and hands it to me. Somehow, that makes me relax even more. Like I’m not cut off here with him. We’re just…hanging out.

I open the phone, checking the messages.

It’s Angel’s brother, Knox.

Where are you?

That’s so weird. Knox has only ever texted me once, and it was when he was drunk. I quickly type back.

In my room.

I see the three dots appear before his message appears.

Good. Stay there.

I stare at the phone, my brow furrowing.

“Your boss?” Sver asks.

“No, his brother. He wants me to stay in my room, but I have no idea why.”

Sver’s hand trails down the middle of my chest between my breasts. “They are looking out for you.”

“I guess.” I close my eyes as I stretch into the touch. “But what are they worried about?”

“You were telling me about your ex.” He gives me another smile, leaning down and kissing the spot between my two breasts.

I huff out a breath. Now is hardly the time to talk about me. “You don’t think they’re in danger, do you?”

He lifts up again, sliding up my body so that his forearms rest on either side of my head, his lips pressing to mine. “Judging by what you said, they can handle themselves.”
