I lay my head on Chopper’s chest and drape my arm over his stomach. I snuggle closer to him and wish I could stay here forever. But none of this is possible long term. Chopper can’t be mine. Dad would never allow it.

Chapter 7

Chopper

Present Day

Watching her move around the bar, I suck in a deep breath and blow it out slowly. As much as I want to make her mine, I know it’s almost impossible. There’s been this internal war when it comes to Roxy Reeves for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been drawn to her like nobody else.

Roxy is a Savage Wolf princess. Being the daughter of a motorcycle club president has its perks, but also its disadvantages. The biggest one being I can't touch her unless I want to risk my life.

Her father will protect her with everything he has and that includes the men I consider my brothers. If Porter gave an order to kill me for touching his little girl, the guys would do it. Not because they hate me, but because I went against Porter’s initial orders when he said to stay away from the girls.

I let out a sigh and watch another man flirting with Roxy. I can't blame them for being attracted to her, but I’d rather they stayed away. They could go after any other woman in this bar and I wouldn’t blink an eye. I just don’t want them near her.

But she’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever laid eyes on. Men will always flock towards her; it doesn’t matter if I don’t like it. Roxy’s made it her life’s mission to prove I can’t control her and I have no say in anything she does.

Tonight, Roxy’s curly red hair is piled into a messy bun on the top of her head. There are little tendrils hanging down in her face and she brushes them away with the back of her hand.

The leather pants she’s wearing hug her body like a second skin. She’s wearing a dark red corset that barely contains the swell of her breasts. If I didn’t know her so well, I’d think she was dressing like this to get more attention, but she’s not. This is just how she likes to dress. Roxy doesn’t want anyone’s attention. She’s happy staying away from men and all the drama that comes along with them. She has since the whole Darren incident in high school.

Her green eyes sparkle in the lights above the bar. She outlined them in black liner, making the green pop even more. Her lips turn up into a smirk when the man leans closer. He thinks he has a chance with her, but he doesn’t. She has him right where she wants him.

He leans across the bar and slips his hand around the back of her neck. I move to slip out of the booth and handle this jerk, but Storm stops me.

“Give her a minute. You know she hates when you come to her rescue and she doesn’t need you,” he murmurs so only I can hear him.

He has his wife tucked into his other side and some of the prospects are sitting with us. I appreciate him keeping this just between the two of us.

“She has one minute to shut him down before I get involved,” I growl.

“I don’t think she’ll let him touch her for that long.” He chuckles.

Roxy’s eyes lift and meet mine. It’s almost like she can feel my attention on her. I lift a brow at her, silently telling her to shut this down and fast. She rolls her eyes as her jaw clenches.

The idiot is trying to lean across the bar and kiss her. As his face comes closer, she grips his arm near his elbow and pushes down with her thumb. She knows exactly what she’s doing and how that spot will cause pain to spread through his arm. His face crumples in pain as her smile grows.

He rips his arm out of her grasp and hurries back towards his table where his friends are falling over with laughter. I'm assuming this is their first time at Savage Saloon and I don’t think they’ll be back.

This guy isn’t wearing a cut, but he looks like a biker. I'm going to keep my eyes on him the rest of the night. We’ve been having issues with the Reapers coming a little too close for comfort and causing some major issues for us.

Though this place is owned by the club, it’s not a club exclusive place. Regular people are welcome, as long as they don’t cause trouble. They rarely do because the town knows someone from the Savage Wolves is always here.

Most nights, the single guys from the club end up here. We have a beer or two and relax after a long day of work. We tend not to get drunk because you never know when something will come up and Porter will need us. Typically, we nurse our beers and hang out while keeping an eye on Roxy.

If a fight breaks out or a man gets a little too close for our liking, we step in and handle it. Though I don’t think Roxy needs us here.

I’ve seen her take a baseball bat to a group of men, each of them four times her size. She brought them all down to the ground and had one of them crying and begging her to stop. They weren’t afraid to hurt a woman either. I saw it in their eyes and was ready to step in if any of them laid a hand on her.

Roxy’s been trained since she was a kid on self-defense and most types of martial arts. Porter prepared his daughters, knowing how likely it was for someone to target his girls. Bad men like to target women and children to push a club to do what they want when they can't get to the man himself.

Her eyes meet mine as soon as the man’s sitting at his table again and I nod my head. She did good and I'm glad I didn’t need to step in. She gets angry every time I do, but I won't hesitate to protect her.

When we were in high school, Porter asked me to keep an eye on his daughters and keep them safe. I wasn’t patched or a prospect at that point, but he knew I wanted to take my place with the Savage Wolves when I was old enough to do so.

I was patched before they graduated and I took my job seriously. I happily accepted the assignment and protected them with my life. I quickly learned how to handle each of the Reeves triplets correctly.

Dixie wanted to be protected. She happily let you step into her life and handle the drama so she didn’t have to. She appreciated me and the rest of the Savage men, and she didn’t hide it.
