She laughs.

“No seriously. I expected some old military guy with a buzz cut.”

“Rude.”

“You know what I mean.”

“Not really.”

“You've got that whole broody thing going on.”

“What?”

I’m only half listening as I continue my hunt.

“And you do have all those sexy tattoos.”

“Excuse me?”

She laughs again.

“Relax, Less. I'm complimenting you.”

“Well, stop it. You're making me uncomfortable.”

“Seriously?”

“Very.”

This conversation is weird, but I found the hot sauce, so I’m happy.

Brielle shakes her head.

“Poor Amanda.”

“Why poor Amanda?”

“She has to deal with all this charm every day.”

She gestures to me.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” I tell her and grab the extra soy sauce as well.

Brielle bursts out laughing.

“Come on, you know you're attractive.”

“Uh—”

I grab the napkins.

“Look, I know Amanda thinks I'm attractive, and honestly that’s good enough for me.”

“Big difference between that and conceit I guess,” she says.

Something flickers across her face.

But it’s gone so quickly I miss it and honestly, this has been weird enough for me.
