In return, she leaned over to kiss him.
He smiled. “What’s that for?” He returned her kiss with one of his own, making her grin.
“Dunno.” She couldn’t stop smiling. “I like this. I like you.” Yeah, she was going to say it to him, and probably sooner than she should.
Blake laughed. “I’m glad, because that’s gonna make this a whole lot easier.”
“Make what a whole lot easier?”
He gestured between the two of them. “This.” He rested his head down on his hand, leaning on his elbow. “There is a ‘this,’ right?”
She nodded. “There’s definitely a this.”
“You want to spend the night?”
Maggie snuggled against him. “Just try to throw me out.”
He pursed his lips in an expression of mock focus. “Do you snore?”
She raised an eyebrow. “I sleep fifteen feet away. Have you heard me snoring?”
“Yes, definitely.”
She pulled away to hit him with a pillow. “Well, you do too.” She got up on wobbly legs.
He watched her stand. “Where are you going?”
“Bathroom. Nighttime stuff.” She gestured over her shoulder. “You gonna save room for me in this bed?”
He smiled. “I’ll even get your pillow.”
When at last they climbed into bed together, Maggie was surprised how natural it felt to move into Blake’s arms and kiss him goodnight. He made a soft, pleased noise against her mouth, then parted her lips with his, rolling her beneath him, and she should not be getting turned on again.
“You’re a monster,” she said when he finally lifted his head for air.
“I’m not a monster.” He kissed her jaw. “Or maybe you like monsters.”
She grinned in the darkness, a soft sigh escaping as he nuzzled her ear. “I know you’re working me up again to leave me wet and wanting.”
“Mmm. You do know me.” He kissed his way back to her lips. “How about if I promise to wake you up with my mouth on your clit?”
She wrapped herself around him, bringing him close. “Tempting. Will I get to come?”
“Questionable.” He gently nibbled her lower lip. “I’m planning to deny you long enough that I can coerce you into telling me ridiculous things about your past.”
Maggie laughed out loud, then flicked her fingertip over his nipple, gratified by his twitch. “And what if I’d tell you those things anyway?”
“Then I’ll deny you because I like denying you.” He cupped her ass through her sleep shorts. “Did you really hump the dining room table?”
“Oh my god. Fuck you.” Maggie tried to bury her face in his neck, laughing despite her embarrassment, but he chased her mouth and kissed her soft and loose until she yielded, murmuring her assent.
“I’m gonna have you do it again sometime, you know.” He gave her a cheeky grin, barely visible in the dark.
“I figured.” She didn’t even mind. “Now, I’m gonna roll over and you’re gonna be the big spoon.”
He chuckled. “Anything for you.”
When Blake woke, sun streaming through the edges of the curtain, Maggie was still asleep in his arms. It wasn’t a dream, although he’d continued to dream about her after falling asleep, and the line between reality and fiction blurred pleasantly in his mind. She lay curled on her side, her dark waves tousled against the pillow, lips soft and parted in sleep, and he could look his fill. But looking wasn’t as fun as touching, so he ran his fingers over her cheekbone and down the curve of her neck, then her shoulder and arm. She smiled in her sleep and shifted, rolling onto her back.
