I’m just saying, if I’m open to it, it’ll happen. Obviously, D’Vaughn was open to it as well...but for some reason she isn’t happy that it actually happened. That’s what has me confused.
Wait. Do you think she’s questioning my feelings too? But why would she? I don’t know. I have to talk to her. I don’t like that look in her eye after I said I loved her too. I’ll do whatever I have to do to get things straight between us.
I have work to do if I want this to last beyond the finale.
Week Five
D’Vaughn & Kris,

Conduct joint bachelor/bachelorette party
Chapter Fourteen
Kris
All the Single Ladies
We were expected to plan a bachelorette party in three days. Of all the things that we’d been tasked to do over the past six weeks, I shouldn’t have been as surprised as I was when I read that on the postcard. I thought that getting a custom wedding gown made three weeks before the wedding was insane, and although this wasn’t on that same level, it still felt impossible. How in the world were we expected to not only plan the party, but ensure that people would be able to make it? Most people needed several weeks to prepare for such an event. Folks had jobs. Full-time, overnight, weeks-at-a-time jobs, and yet somehow we were supposed to gather all of our family and friends to a venue with three days’ notice. Oh, and the icing on the cake was that the party had to take place on a Wednesday. Whoever heard of a bachelor or bachelorette party taking place in the middle of the week?! It was complete madness, but it definitely tracked with everything else we’d had assigned to us over the past few weeks.
“This might be the easiest thing that we’ve had all month,” D’Vaughn said, a little excitement and surprise in her voice as she read the printed card. I gave her a disbelieving look.
“Easy?! How in the world is this easy?” I waved my card in the air.
“Uh, because all we have to do is find a club or a lounge and rent it out for a few hours. Shoot, we could even go to a strip club and put together a few sections. It’s extremely easy.”
I lifted my eyebrows in surprise. “Wait. Did you just say a strip club?”
D’Vaughn surprised me every single day. Of all the things I might’ve expected her to say, suggesting a strip club was not one of them. But now that she’d said it, it made a lot of sense. We didn’t have to do anything special for our joint bachelorette party; all we needed was a venue. And since it was supposed to be a party, a club would be a perfect place. Strip clubs were normal for the bachelor side of things, so I got why she would suggest that, but is that what she really wanted?
“Do you seriously want to bring your mother to a strip club?”
From the look she gave me, you would’ve thought that I had snakes growing out of my head. “My mama is not invited to my bachelorette party! Are you inviting your parents? Seriously?!”
I lifted my eyes to the ceiling as I thought hard on what we were talking about. When it hit me, I busted out laughing. “I’m tripping. You’re absolutely right. My parents are not going to be there, so it can be at wherever or whatever location we choose. If you want the strip club, we can do the strip club.”
Tossing the card onto the table in front of us, D’Vaughn climbed into my lap, straddling my thighs as she settled on top of me and wrapped her arms around my neck.
“I don’t really care where we have this thing,” she murmured as she leaned down and began pressing soft kisses along my jawline and down my neck. “My only concern is getting to the good part.”
Gripping her back, I slid my hands down her body until I reached her ass. “And what’s the good part?”
“The slightly tipsy sex that we have once we get back home. After we’ve been flirting, and touching, and getting turned on by women shaking their ass all in our faces and grinding in our laps.”
It was in the way she casually said “home” that brought a thump to my chest. For the past week, D’Vaughn had been spending nights at my house, sleeping in bed beside me, showering with me in the morning, and eating breakfast along with me and Rhea. It was becoming all too familiar seeing her in my space. And I was steadily wanting it to be our space. I didn’t want to point out what she’d said because I didn’t want her to correct it, so I simply patted her cheeks and nodded.
“Yeah, that does sound like the good part.”
Finally her lips made their way towards mine. She ground down against me at the same time that she sucked my tongue into her mouth in that way she always did, just before her hands found their way inside of my pants.
“Do we have time for a little of the good part before you have to be to work?” I whispered, leaning back just a little so that I could gauge where this was going. Her sexy grin was all the answer that I needed. I slid my hands underneath the T-shirt that she’d slept in and prayed that I didn’t end up late for work.
Three nights later, we got all dressed up and piled into a limousine to take us to the VR Club and Lounge downtown. We’d opted for a lounge instead of a strip club because it was such short notice, and on humpday of all days. We didn’t want to cart a couple dozen people to watch talented women dance if they weren’t financially able to make it worthwhile, and since no one got paid in the middle of the week, we scratched that idea.
I’d never heard of a bachelor or bachelorette party taking place on Wednesday, but we’d signed a contract and therefore had to do whatever we’d been tasked, whether it made sense or not. There were a few grumbles when we started telling people about the party, but almost everyone we invited somehow made a way to be there.
