Slowly.

Not tentative. Deliberate.

I felt every fraction of the distance disappear.

At the last inch, something inside me went absolutely still.

The light under my skin brightened.

Jessa stopped too.

Her hands braced on my shoulders. Mine locked at her hips.

For one suspended second neither of us moved.

The connection that had been forming in fragments for years stopped feeling like something reaching between us.

It settled.

Complete.

Permanent was too small a word for the certainty of it.

Jessa exhaled my name.

I answered hers.

“You okay?” she asked.

“Yes.”

“Good.”

She moved.

My head hit the wall behind the bunk.

I did not care.

Jessa controlled the rhythm because I couldn’t use my ribs the way I wanted to and because she had apparently decided I had been in charge long enough.

I let her.

More than let her.

I watched her take what she wanted from me.

Her knees tightened against my sides. Her hands shifted from my shoulders to the wall behind me when she needed leverage. Every time she came down, pleasure drove through me hard enough to strip thought down to single words.

Her.

Here.

Again.

I used my hands where I could. Her waist. Her breasts. Between us, until she broke rhythm and swore against my mouth.

“That.”
