Some of Max’s toys hung around his neck, smaller ones were sticking out of his windbreaker pocket. He looked like a clown for cats.
Cal looked down and started laughing at himself. I swung my camera to my side and bent down to grab a towelette from a bag.
I came up to Cal, gently wiping the sweat from his brow. Cal put the reflector down and caught my hand in his.
Our eyes met, and the air suddenly felt heavy with the intense heat between us.
Cal reached out and cupped my cheeks. His eyes darkening as he leaned in.
Closing the remaining distance between us, Cal merely brushed his lips against mine, not going any further. The anticipation was agonizing.
Cal’s hand left my cheek and trailed along my jawline. Slowly, his fingers ventured down my neck, leaving a trail of electricity in its wake.
“Are we done here?” Cal asked, his voice husky and low.
I knew he wanted to know whether we were done with the photoshoot, but it was the furthest thing from my mind right now.
All I could think about was how his lips would feel on mine.
“Not even close,” I said.
With that, I grabbed the collar of his windbreaker and made sure he would never ask that question again.
I may have kissed him first, but Cal took control almost immediately. Or did I give mine up? It didn’t matter.
Cal’s lips was an intoxicating blend of passion and urgency. His mouth moved over mine like he was hungry to explore every curve of it.
My hands moved from his chest to his back, pulling him even closer to me. Whatever space was left between us was gone.
Cal’s body was firm and warm. Even through his jacket, I could feel his back muscles shifting, responding eagerly to my touch.
I suddenly started to feel something hitting my leg lightly. With the greatest amount of self-restraint I have ever mustered, I let go of Cal and looked down.
Max was circling between my legs and purring. I knew that sound. He was hungry.
“Sorry, I need to feed him. We better go,” I said, having one last look at Cal’s tempting lips.
“It’s ok. I’ve worked up an appetite myself,” Cal said with a grin.
Chapter 10
Nate
If I could scold my past self, I’d say, ‘Nate, you didn’t dream big enough. Cal in fishing waders wearing nothing underneath? HAH! That’s nothing’. Because right in front of me, in the real world, was a shirtless Cal.
After the photoshoot in the woods, we made our way back to the front of Cal’s cabin.
I told Cal I had prepared lunch for us to thank him for his help. It was nothing fancy, just some sandwiches and a salad.
I packed a picnic mat too, so we could have it by the lake and enjoy the view. And oh boy, was I enjoying the view right now.
Though I couldn’t blame Cal. It was the peak of summer. It was hot, and we had both worked up a sweat earlier.
However, I couldn’t help but wonder why he didn’t wash up in his cabin instead, which was only a few feet away.
No, Cal had to take his shirt and jacket off right in front of me. He said he wanted to cool himself off by splashing water down his back and front.
Yeah right. Cal wasn’t fooling me for a second.
