I performed a slow hand clap, renewed hostility blazing in Elijah’s eyes

at the deliberate mockery. “Well done, Elijah. You’ve finally worked out that I do the things I do simply because I can. Now roll over. I want to fuck you.”

Something else seeped through the anger and hurt clouding his

expression, something that was unmistakably lust. “What will happen to it?”

I raised an eyebrow in question.

“The razorblade.”

Grabbing his shoulder, I maneuvered him into position, his thighs

automatically parting as I pulled the sheet down to reveal the body I’d grown accustomed to possessing whenever, wherever, and in whatever way I desired. Shucking my clothes, I joined him on the bed, one hand working my cock to full hardness before lining it up with his ass. I finally answered Elijah’s question as I worked my cock inside him, the irony of talking about one foreign body while introducing another not lost on me. “It’s a foreign body. Your body will recognize it as that and eventually it will work its way out.”

“How long?”

I slid deeper, the tightness of Elijah’s ass gripping me perfectly. “Weeks. Months. I don’t know. I guess we’ll find out.” I gripped his hips, my fingers slotting into place over the previous bruises I’d left there.

“So… it’s a medical experiment?”

I pulled almost all the way out before slamming back into him, the action pushing an involuntary gasp from Elijah’s throat. “If that’s what you want it to be, then that’s what it is.”

“It scares me having something sharp inside my body.”

I let out a laugh as I found the perfect rhythm of thrusts, pulling him back against me so I could go deep. “I know. You prefer a nice big cock, don’t you?”

“Fuck you!”

“Oh no, my friend. I think I’ll just carry on fucking you. Much more fun this way.”

I sped up, sating myself in an alluring mixture of lust and hatred. He could hate me all he wanted because we both knew he’d come just as hard.

I BRACED my arms against the ledge as I stared out into the city, the river just a dark smudge at this time of night. My city. Well, half of it anyway.

“Sorry to disturb you, Shai.”

Despite the urgent tone in Wyatt’s voice, I answered without bothering to turn. “What is it?”

“It’s Taylor. I haven’t been able to get a hold of him for a few hours. I figured he was just busy, but I left him a message to call me back and he still hasn’t. It’s not like him. I just thought you’d want to know.”

I did turn then, parking my ass on the window ledge as I pulled out my phone. Scrolling through the contacts, I paused on Taylor’s name, pressing the button to call him. The phone rang and rang until voicemail kicked in and I left a message. “Taylor, it’s Shai. You need to check in. Your red-haired sidekick thinks you’re off having fun without him.” I hung up, shoving the phone back in my pocket.

“Where do you think he is?”

I offered Wyatt a shrug. “I don’t know. I’m his boss, not his keeper.

He’ll call. And as soon as he does, I’ll tell him that you’re beside yourself with worry and get him to call you. Happy?”

Wyatt gave a nod, but the furrow on his brow didn’t shift. I stared at him. “Anything else?”

He shook his head, taking the hint and disappearing back the way he’d

come.

I turned around again and went back to my silent scrutiny of the night.

Elijah had gone straight to sleep after I’d fucked him senseless, which probably had more to do with the residual effects of the general anesthetic than with anything else. At least it had saved me from another round of Elijah’s favorite game—the why game.
