“I didn’t notice.”

“How did you not notice? They’re giggling like schoolgirls.”

He shrugs as though he isn’t interested. “Eat your dinner and you’ll get dessert.”

It’s been a while since I’ve been told to eat my dinner so sternly, but I’m kind of digging it and decide now’s the time for jokes. “Yes, Daddy.”

He glares at me as he takes a bite of pizza. “There you go again.”

“What?” I narrow my gaze.

“Writing checks you can’t cash.”

“Who says I can’t cash it?”

He growls low as though he’s annoyed. “Eat your food.”

I nod again, this time with a smile. “Yes, Daddy.”

His eyes widen and he shakes his head.

“Oh, it’s the daddy thing. That’s the check you don’t think I can cash. Why’s that?”

He drags in a deep breath. “You’re trouble.”

“Yeah?” I grin. “You don’t like it when I call you Daddy?”

He gruffs again. “Oh, I like it. I like it so much I just might drag your ass out behind that circus tent and have my way with you.”

“Okay then.” I lean forward and grin. “Tell me what you want, Daddy.”

He shakes his head. “Eat that food and Daddy’ll tell you when it’s time to bend over.”

My pussy twitches and creams at the thought of us fucking like animals in a quiet corner of this busy little festival. His hands all over me, rough and hard. I’d be the envy of every woman here tonight. Heck, I think I already am.

I’m taking a bite of my pizza, my head filled with fantasies of what trouble Tucker and I could get into, when I hear my brother’s voice echo in from behind. “Tilly?”

Oh God!

A streak of anxiety rushes through me as I turn back to see Jack and Mira standing feet away, holding hands like they always do.

“What are you doing here?” My brother’s no longer looking at me, he’s looking at Tucker. Well, he’s glaring at Tucker.

“I’m at Fall Fest, just like you. What’s going on?” I’m speaking, but my brother still isn’t looking at me.

“I saw you on the family location app and I got worried, so I came down here to check on you. You haven’t answered your texts.”

Mira stretches out her hand toward Tucker, a smile on her face like usual. I’ve never seen this woman have any emotion other than happiness. I can only dream of that kind of emotional regulation. “Hi, I’m the sister-in-law. Nice to meet you. Forgive my husband, he’s half bulldog.”

Tucker nods, though he keeps his face flat as he shakes Mira’s hand.

It made sense that Jack was tracking me when I was working the late shifts at the hospital, but right now, it’s just annoying, and I feel stupid that I forgot I had that dumb app on my phone.

“Can I talk to you for a minute, Tilly?” Jack returns his devil stare to me. “Privately.”

I glance toward Tucker for answers, and he nods as though he wants me to talk to my brother, despite the fact that I don’t have a word to say right now. In fact, I think it’s rather rude that he’s come all the way out here to burst my bubble. So rude, that I take my time with another bite of pizza before I get up and follow him ten feet away to the fried dough stand.

“If you want to say something mean, I’m not sure we’re far enough away. I can still hear Mira. She’s telling Tucker about her sourdough loaves.”
