“That’s right, cry, you ugly bitch. I messed up your face because, other than money, you think you the shit, and you ain’t!” he roared and then kicked her.

“Nigga, you didn’t do shit for me! I did everything myself with Dexten’s money, not yours. So don’t ever say you did anything for me but buy me those weak-ass ‘I’m sorry’ gifts! Beating me and calling me ugly won’t stop my flow! I’ma rise from the way you hurt me in the past! I am not scared of you!”

Lunden was in beast mode. He picked her up by her throat and slammed her head against the wall again. He just held her there, glaring at her with a mean mug on his face. Until he let her go and stepped back.

Pretti charged towards him and punched him in the face so hard that he had a reflex and backhanded her. She fell to the floor, feeling defeated. She was so upset that Lunden was making it seem like he was hurt. She felt like he never loved her and was only with her because he knew he could control her, but she was smarter now, and she was glad this was their official ending.

“You think that nigga Dexz gon’ treat you better than I did? You’re stupider than I thought. Remember, he was my nigga since the sandbox. He’s just like me!”

“I fucking hate you! He will never treat me like you did! It’s been over between us before Dexz even got home. All you did was control my mind, and you’re mad you can’t do it anymore. Have a nice life with your two girlfriends. You think I didn’t know, you pathetic bastard!”

“Fuck you, bitch! You’re right, I never loved your wack ass. I was just trying to prove a point. I can have any girl I want, and you fell for it!” Lunden shouted loudly and boldly.

“Get the fuck out!” Pretti shouted in agony.

Lunden stormed out of her office, mad as hell. He drove home and calmed down because he knew that, with him hitting Pretti the way he did, it was going to be war between him and Dexz.

Pretti lay on the floor crying as she watched the blood fall from her nose. She was pissed off, so she took her phone from her bra and called Dexz. She knew he was going to be pissed, and at that point, she didn’t care. She wanted Lunden dead for what he had done to her. She called her security to come in and help her, and he wasted no time bursting in.

“Ms. Phoenix, are you ok? Do you need me to call an ambulance?” he asked, devastated by the amount of blood pouring from her nose. He didn't know they were in her office fighting because Pretti didn’t send him a signal.

“No, don’t call an ambulance. I should’ve messaged you while it was happening, but shit was moving too fast. Just take me to a hospital so I can see about my nose,” she said as she tried to pick herself off the floor. Her security put out his hand and helped her stand. He then grabbed a sweater from a chair and held it to her nose.

“Had I known that nigga was in here beating you, I would have been in here or caught his ass in the parking lot. I thought you said that was your fiancé?” her security questioned.

“He was. We’ve been having problems for a while and keeping it private. We finally ended it, though. I’ll call Dexz on the way. Just drive me to the closest hospital in my truck so I can have a way to get home. I will get you transportation back here to your car.”

Her security walked her to her truck. When he pulled out of the parking lot, Pretti wasted no time calling Dexten...

Chapter 27

DOOMED

Walking out of his condo in a good mood, Dexz was feeling confident about his life. His dope dealing days were finally about to be put behind him, and he was moving on to the corporate world.

For the last five months, he was focused on his son and their future. He was at his aunt's house every day from morning to sundown, getting to know Ethan. He loved being around his child and found out so much about him. He took him to doctors’ appointments with his aunt and got all the information he needed. He knew it was going to be a long road, but he had a support system with his family, so he knew everything would be okay.

He walked to his midnight blue AMG Mercedes GT Coupe because he had car options now. He was heading to Burner’s condo that he shared with one of his baby mommas and a few of his kids. His true right-hand man was still going to be in the game, but he still wanted in on the car lot business, so Burner was helping Dexz get his last bag.

As he was connecting his phone to his car Bluetooth, it began to ring, and it was Pretti. He hadn't spoken to her in a few days, nor had they had any alone time, so he knew she was probably calling to set something up.

“What's up, ma?”

“Lunden came into my office and watched my surveillance. He saw us fucking back when you first got out. He broke my nose and left me bloody!” Pretti cried out through the phone.

“HE DID WHAT?!” he raged.

“He put his hands on me. I'm on my way to the hospital with my security, but I need you.”

“What hospital? I'm on my way?”

“NYC Health.”

Dexz hung up the phone and left as fast as he could, but before he went to see what was up with Pretti, he went to find Lunden. His blood was boiling, and he was ready to fight. He didn’t care what Lunden had found out; he had no right to put his hands on her.

He pulled up in his neighborhood, and it was still early. A few of his goons were standing on the corner shooting dice. He glanced at the crowd and saw none of them were Lunden, so he drove off and headed to his condo. When he pulled up, he saw Lunden’s car parked out front. Dexz got out his whip and walked casually to Lunden’s door. He knocked, and the door flew open.
