I stared at both names for a second, thumb hovering like I was really about to make a decision off it.
“Eeny, meeny, miny, moe,” I muttered under my breath, shaking my head at myself.
I locked the phone and slid it back in my pocket.
“I’m about to slide,” I told CK, walking back toward the front.
He looked at me. “You good?”
“I’m straight.”
He nodded, but I could tell he clocked something. He just wasn’t about to press it.
I stepped outside, pulled my keys out, and got in the truck, sitting there for a second before starting it.
My jaw tightened, head still not slowing down.
“I need to bust a nut,” I said low, more to myself than anything.
No thought behind it. Just needed something easy that didn’t require anything from me.
I pulled my phone back out, opened the thread, and typed.
Me: You free?
I sent it and pulled off.

“I know exactly what I am to him… but this time, it didn’t feel the same.”
Ihad two days off work, and today was my rest day. Working as a hotel manager at the Beverly Hills, dealing with people who thought money made them important. That’s why I didn’t talk much when Vaughn brought up money and thought I was with him for it. I made good money, my family came from money, so I didn’t need money from a man. Only time… and dick.
So when Vaughn texted me at 9 AM saying he was on his way, I got out of my cozy bed, showered, put on one of his t-shirts he left a while back, and got in the kitchen. I started making chicken and waffles, his favorite that he liked me to cook when he was in my space.
I had been creeping with Vaughn for two years. I met him at my job. Even when he was with his ex, he came to me. I was the comfort zone, and I was smart enough not to get attached. I knew what he was to me. Didn’t care that Alana had a piece of him. If he decided to leave me alone today, I would care, but I wouldn’t lose my mind over it. So I enjoyed him until I couldn’t.
I was finished with everything by the time he was knocking on my condo door. When I opened it, he stood there with his duffel bag, looking handsome as fuck in his work shirt, jeans, and designer shoes. Even in plain clothes, the nigga looked sexy as fuck.
“What’s up, ma, you got it smelling good,” he said as he walked in and hugged me. His hand went straight to my ass.
“Hey, bae,” I cooed as he held onto me. He hugged me a little longer than usual. It almost felt like he needed it.
“Damn, you miss me?” I giggled as I pulled away.
“Lil bit. A nigga just need some female energy right now. Been around men all morning,” he said.
“Well, get comfortable. I’m off work today, so stay as long as you want. I cooked chicken and waffles for breakfast,” I said, closing the door.
“That sound good.” He dropped his bag.
I couldn’t help myself. I started helping him out his shirt just to see his body, covered in tattoos.
“Stripping me already?” he chuckled as I got the shirt over his head.
“Yes,” I giggled.
I walked him to the kitchen, and he sat at the island. I poured him some orange juice and finished the waffles. He rolled his weed while I turned on music. I let him smoke, then set a plate in front of him.
