“This chicken is so fire,” she said, dipping another garlic parm wing into ranch.
“Yeah, they fire. But let me ask you something.”
She smiled. “Ask away.”
“You know why I like to be with yo’ fine ass. You pretty, you quiet, you mind your business… but why do you like being around me? I only feed you dick and wings.”
She laughed. “Because I like free dick and wings on a random weekday.”
I chuckled. “Fair enough.”
At that moment, my receptionist walked in after one knock. I frowned, but I saw the urgency in her eyes.
“I’m sorry for busting in. I know you’re on lunch, but Milan is on her way back here. I told her no, but she’s giving me a hard time,” she said nervously.
“I sure am,” my ex, Milan, said, walking in already full of venom.
I stood up, not expecting her, but she was always in my space at the wrong time.
“What’s up, V Saint? She part of the application process?”
I frowned. “Mind your business.”
“I’m just curious how you got a different bitch every week but been stuck on the same woman for a decade.”
I looked at Nia because she was clearly looking at me, confused.
“Can you step out for a second? Don’t leave,” I told her.
“Sure.” She smiled.
“You look familiar. You be with that girl Sade, huh?” Milan asked Nia, but I cut her short.
“You don’t get to ask nobody questions,” I told Milan, then looked at Nia. “I’ll be with you shortly.”
She grabbed her plate of wings and mac and left out.
Milan laughed. “You keep a big girl in the tuck.”
“You jealous?”
“Absolutely not. You’re just running through the whole friend circle, huh? You think Sade gon’ like you after she finds out you fucked all her friends?”
“You think it’s a flex that you think you know my business?”
She snickered. “Yup, because if people knew you been a fuckin’ stalker, it would stop everything. Let everybody know why you really ended things.”
“Let them know you were having an affair with my broke ass cameraman? Is that what you said?”
“Nah, that you’ve been following that girl’s life without her knowing.” She folded her arms.
“That a crime? The crime was that you hacked my shit after I told you we were done. Now, why the fuck are you here?”
“You paid my rent for four years, and they are trying to evict me.”
I smirked. “Get a job. Go back to working at Louis Vuitton.”
“I didn’t have to work when I was with you, Vaughn. That was four years with no job. I need time.”
