Morgan seemed to be able to read her thoughts because he said, “Lass, ye are looking tired. I had the men set up a tent I brought with us which they put up at the edge of the clearing. Ye can wait for me there, I willna be long.”

She looked around, and despite having been in the area cooking the meal, she hadn’t noticed the tent. It did sort of blend in with the foliage, though.

Her mouth dry, she nodded and stood, brushing off her skirts. Morgan took her hand to pulled her down close and whispered in her ear. “Take off yer clothes. There is a feather bed in there, and a few wraps ye can warm yerself with.”

Emma gasped. “Take everything off?”

Morgan grinned. “Nay. Ye can leave on yer shift.” He paused. “For now.” He winked and she scurried away.

Chapter Twenty-Two

Morgan studied his bonnie wife as she scampered away. He smiled, remembering the flush to her face that was bright enough to even see in the dark.

He’d thought of nothing all day except what was about to happen soon. Having Emma in front of him, snuggled in his arms during the journey in the wagon, had been torture.

There was no denying that there had been a strong attraction between them almost from when he first opened his eyes and saw her, the bonniest lass he’d ever seen.

Once he’d learned her name, he immediately pushed the attraction to the back of his mind. No more Emmas. Plus as a Mackenzie, she was also the enemy they were in the process of attacking.

Once he’d discovered that the entire attack on the castle had been a bogus battle to cause a distraction so they could snatch Gregory Mackenzie’s wife, he’d been disgusted with his uncle and twice as angry about the injuries he’d received.

Even though he’d suffered a serious gash and bruised ribs, he was not sorry that he’d jumped from Demon to save young Evan, one of his new warriors, from having his head removed from his body. Demon had slipped, fallen on him and the rest led him to where he was tonight, giving his healer-wife time to prepare herself for their wedding night.

He’d waited long enough he decided, when he began to receive teasing and unneeded advice from some of the men. It was time to join Emma and finish what he’d started each time he’d kissed her. With a smile and a wave, he left the group’s ribald teasing and headed to the tent.

Morgan opened the tent flap to see Emma sitting on the feather bed, dressed only in her shift, her legs drawn up, her chin resting on her knees. She looked scared to death, and he was glad he’d decided to bring a bit of whisky with him, anticipating the need to have something to relax her.

Thankful for the unusual early spring warmth, he removed everything except his braies. Her eyes were on him the entire time, and grew wider and wider with each item of clothing he removed. “’Tis no reason to be frightened, lass. You’ve seen me in less than this.”

“Aye. But ye had a bleeding leg, a fever, and bruised ribs.”

He knelt in front of her and reached out to touch her silky hair. “And ’tis a fever I have right now.”

She immediately jumped on that statement. “Are ye sick? Should I get a tonic for ye?” She moved to stand. Morgan grabbed her hand and pulled her until she landed on his lap though thankfully not on his healing leg. He covered her mouth with his and slid his hand up to cup her breast. Warm, soft, plump.

He groaned. Heaven.

He kneaded the flesh and rolled her extended nipple with his index finger and thumb. Thankfully she didn’t pull away in horror, but sighed in pleasure.

He’d learned over the years that pleasuring the lass first made the entire process easier. Although he’d never bedded a virgin before, with his Emma, there was no doubt she desired him as much as he desired her, so it would not be difficult.

Morgan cupped her face and took her mouth in a searing kiss. Her lips were plump, moist, and gladly welcomed his.

His hand wandered down her body until he reached her wet, swollen center. Not wanting to extend their joining to where they became loud with the men not too far away, he used his thumb to circle and press into her swelling nub, quickly bringing her pleasure.

Morgan covered her mouth once again to keep her moans between them. When her shuddering stopped, he pressed her onto her back, then moved over her, spreading her legs wide to fit his hips.

He hated having to make it so quick for her first time, but with the men right outside, he didn’t want to give them anything to smirk about in the morning.

He would make it up to her once they reached Clyth Castle and had a warm, comfortable bed and a room with a door so they could enjoy each other.

He entered her slippery sheath slowly, waiting for the piece of skin he knew was there that he needed to break through.

Again, he covered her mouth with his as he shoved forward past that membrane, and stopped, his eyes closing tightly. So tight. So wet. It was hard not to thrust in and out of her body.

Instead, he took a deep breath, holding still, then leaned in and kissed her softly. Soon he continued to move within her, slowly at first to get her used to it. Then his thrusts grew steadier and more frantic as he grew closer to his release. Emma’s eyes were closed, but it didn’t appear as though she was in pain.

Sweat ran down his face, and it didn’t take long before he clamped his mouth shut to keep from howling his pleasure.
