And somewhere between Kyrie’s ridiculous questions, the doctor’s laughter, and watching our baby move around on that screen, I realized something.
I wasn’t thinking about what happened before anymore.
I wasn’t waiting for something bad to happen.
For the first time since finding out I was pregnant, I was just lying there, looking at my baby.
Happy.
And that felt good as hell.
Once the ultrasound was over, I wiped the gel from my stomach and pulled my shirt back down. I sat up on the table, still smiling like a damn fool.
“Twelve weeks,” I said softly.
That shit still sounded crazy.
Twelve whole weeks with a little person growing inside me.
Kyrie stood between my legs and placed both hands on my thighs.
“You good?”
I nodded. “Yeah.”
“Yeah?”
“Yes, Kyrie.” I laughed. “I’m good.”
He stared at me for another second before helping me down from the table. The doctor stepped out for a moment, leaving us alone in the room.
I went to sit in the chair, but Kyrie caught my hand before I could.
“Where you going?”
“To sit down.”
“Come here.”
Before I could say anything else, he pulled me onto his lap.
“Kyrie.”
“What?”
I looked toward the door. “We are in a doctor’s office.”
“And?”
“You just had me sitting in your lap in the waiting room!”
“So?”
I laughed. “You don't think your ass doing too much?”
“Nawl.”
Of course he didn’t. His arm wrapped around my waist, and once again, his hand found its way to my stomach.
