“Just come get me.”

“I’m coming.” She paused. “But you let me handle anything that gets too crazy. You hear me?”

“Yeah.”

“Sianni.”

“I heard you.”

“Good. Send me that address.”

We hung up, and I forwarded it to her right away. Then, I stood there, staring at my phone.

About an hour later, Drayla pulled into the parking lot of Lake Bellamy Waterfront Park. I spotted Alexia before Drayla even found somewhere to park.

“There go this bitch.”

Drayla glanced over at me. “Remember what the fuck we talked about.”

“I remember.”

“Sianni.”

“Damn, Drayla. I said I remember.”

“I’m just making sure.” She pulled into an empty spot and put the car in park. “You got more than yourself to think about now.”

My hand instinctively fell against my stomach.

“I know.”

“And I know you mad.”

“Mad ain’t even the fucking word.”

The entire ride over, I’d been replaying everything Amani told me. Every time I thought I had calmed down, another piece of the conversation would pop into my head and piss me off all over again.

Drayla reached over and grabbed my arm before I could open the door.

“Talk first.”

“I am.”

“And if that bitch gets stupid, let me handle it.”

I looked at her.

“Drayla.”

“I’m serious.”

“So am I.” I pulled my arm free. “I’m not finna just stand there if that hoe put her hands on me.”

“I ain’t say that. Protect yourself if you have to. But don’t go over there trying to prove no damn point. That bitch ain’t worth risking your baby over.”

I knew she was right. It didn’t mean I liked hearing that shit.

“Aight.”
