A strong woman would have denied him, but it would seem I wasn’t one of them. My feelings for him never ceased and fighting them was a losing battle. Maybe I should put everything that was separating us aside—at last for the night—and stop fighting my feelings.

The air had grown heavy with humidity, carrying the faint scent of salt from the sea. Beyond the railing the sea stretched endlessly in every direction—black, vast, and almost indistinguishable from the night. The moon was now hidden behind clouds.

Then the first raindrop landed softly on my cheek. A moment later, another followed, then another, each one cool against my skin.

We kept slow dancing beneath the open sky. Our bodies moved in sync like we’d been dancing in the rain a million times before and the raindrops were part of the song.

The rain began to fall more steadily, catching in his hair. I could feel it soaking through our clothes, but neither of us seemed to care. We were suspended in that strange, beautiful moment of wanting this night to last forever, because the daylight would put us right back to where we started. Or rather, where our marriage ended.

“Remember when we danced in the rain?” He brushed his nose against mine. “How happy we were.”

I remembered everything about our short time together, but I refused to admit that to him. Instead I rested my head against his chest.

He pulled me a little closer. We swayed together on that lonely terrace, surrounded by the darkness of the sea, it felt as though the entire world had disappeared—leaving only the two of us, dancing in the rain.

For the night, I would pretend there was no past and wrongdoings separating us.

“I want to forget all the problems tonight,” I breathed, locking eyes with him. “Call me a good girl while gripping my hair, and make love to me. Just beware, tomorrow I’ll go back to… hating you.”

He let out a heavy breath, and brought his hands up to cup my cheeks. “You can lie to yourself, Anya, but you can’t lie to me. Our souls, bodies, and hearts are connected in the most profound way and there’s only one feeling that dominates.”

Then he kissed me deeply, claiming my soul, heart, and body.

CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

JETMIR

Taking my wife up on her offer was a bad idea, but years without her, and staying faithful made me a weak, weak man. Or simply pathetic.

Yet, I didn’t give two fucks because she was mine. The moment I laid eyes on her, it was game over for me.

We barely made it inside into the kitchen when my control snapped and I had her back against the wall. I took her mouth, sliding my tongue between her soft, luscious lips. Her skin was damp, her scent wrapping all around me. In a strange way, it was calming.

I pressed my nose to her neck, nipping and licking at her soft skin. She moaned and the sound shot straight to my rock-hard dick. I inhaled deeply, memorizing her scent.

Her soft moans filled the dark kitchen, and in the distance, I could hear drizzle turn into downpour.

She was so damn sweet and responsive. It was always like that with her. My body reacted to her alone and hers to mine. Rocking into her, my cock pressed against her and she whimpered into my mouth. I wrapped one of her legs around me, and she mirrored the movement, hooking her other leg around me.

I pushed my hand into her hair, tilting her head back to meet my eyes.

“You’re always my good girl.” Her full lips were slightly parted as she watched me through her half-lidded gaze. “The universe, or whoever is up there, gave me you, and I swear, I’m going to earn you back.”

Our breaths thundered, an erratic drumbeat hummed in my ears. Her fingernails scraped at my nape, then she pulled me closer.

“Give me everything tonight,” she demanded softly.

Her lips met mine, and the moment her soft mouth brushed against mine, I thrust my tongue inside her slightly parted mouth. Her sigh was a fucking melody. Her tongue danced in tune with mine. She tasted exquisite, better than ever before. Maybe it was the tequila or the fact that she wanted this as much as I did.

Sweeping her up into my arms, I carried her over to the kitchen counter, then lowered her down. “What—?” Her voice was breathy as she pressed her palms against my chest for balance. “Here?”

“Yes.” My hands were already on her tank top, ripping it off, then shimmying her out of her boy shorts. “Ah, still not wearing panties to bed, I see,” I purred.

Her eyes met mine and her lips curved into a naughty smile. “Easier access.”

A growl vibrated in my chest. “I don’t like the idea of you touching yourself when I’m not around. I should be the only one bringing you pleasure.”

She tilted her chin defiantly. “What makes you think it wasn’t another—”
