From a distance, I watched lights flicker inside the second-floor window and sat there until her bedroom went dark again.

“I’ll be back for you soon,” I murmured into the night, and then I drove away.

Jealousy was an ugly thing, but it was also an excellent way to relieve tension. Revenge was even better.

The blond fucker stumbled out of his car forty minutes later, alone and slightly drunk. He had to be the worst—or dumbest—criminal in this entire world.

His attention was on his phone, completely oblivious to his surroundings and any dangers.

He was probably texting to report about his success while also bragging about the beautiful woman he’d danced with and that thought alone pissed me off even more.

I parked across the street from his apartment building and got out. The early fall breeze swooped across the parking lot, as if trying to soothe my jealousy. It didn’t.

My loafers thudded against the paved parking lot as I closed the distance, his drunken ass oblivious to the danger. He looked up when my shadow fell over him.

My fist connected with his face, sending his phone flying across the parking lot.

“What the fuck,” he grunted, confusion flashing across his face. “Do I know you?”

I punched his pretty face again.

“Not yet. But you will.” His eyes met mine and fear flickered in his gaze.

I kicked his knee and he let out a wail, but the empty parking lot swallowed his scream. When it was over, both his legs bent in directions nature never intended and he was on the ground, crawling like a snake.

I lit up a cigarette, then crouched beside him while he sobbed.

“That woman you danced with tonight…” I inhaled a puff of the smoke before exhaling into his face. “That’s my wife.”

His eyes widened and terror entered his expression.

“You… You’re Jetmir.”

A menacing smile appeared on my face. “I see my reputation precedes me.”

He nodded vigorously, tears and blood staining his pale cheeks.

“Now, my friend, you will tell me everything you know about the Triad and why they’re tailing my wife.”

He didn’t resist, and what little he knew of the Triad’s plans, he spilled.

Pulling out a gun, I twisted a silencer onto the barrel of my gun, then pointed it at his temple and pulled the trigger.

Blood splattered across the pavement and he hit the ground with his eyes wide open and a bullet hole in his temple.

I stood and straightened my jacket, examining the wreckage I’d made of the man. The point was made and the Triad will get the message.

The best part was that my anger was gone and I was ready for the next chapter of my life.

I left him there and headed back to claim what had been mine all along.

CHAPTER TWENTY

ANYA

Istared at the dark ceiling, unable to find rest. I should be tired after a long night of downing tequila and dancing.

Thoughts whirled in my mind and they all revolved around him. Thorne. Jetmir.
