She grinned. “Yes, I’m obsessed. I have a Soda Stream to make my own and a fridge stocked full of it.”

I leaned against the counter. “Of course you do.”

She pulled out a lemon and a lime LaCroix. “Want one?”

“I’ve never had one.” I shrugged.

She gasped like I had committed a crime. “You’ve never had a LaCroix?”

I smirked. “Still water, babe. Straight up.”

She handed me the lemon with exaggerated seriousness. “Here. You’re starting with the best flavor.”

We cracked them open, and the fizz snapped sharp in the quiet kitchen. She took a sip and tipped her head toward the hallway.

“Come on,” she said. “Let’s watch in my room. My bed’s way more comfortable.”

I arched a brow. “I know, I’ve slept in it… Remember?”

She shot me a look over her shoulder while walking away. “Don’t get cocky, metal girl. Let’s go watch Buffy. You’ve got me hooked.”

“Glad you like it.” I laughed following her down the hall while my pulse picked up with every step.

I had a feeling Buffy wasn’t getting my full attention tonight.

Addison’s bedroom felt quieter than the rest of the place, like the door shut the world out and left only us behind.

She tossed the remote onto the bed, climbed in, and patted the spot beside her like she wasn’t even pretending this was casual. Sure we’d done this before, but I was half asleep. Still, I didn’t hesitate. I set my drink on the nightstand, and slid in next to her. My shoulder brushed hers immediately as the heat of her body met mine. Buffy’s theme song playing.

For a while we actually watched. She laughed at the bad CGI, groaned at the monster-of-the-week plot, and rolled her eyes whenever the dialogue got ridiculous. But she loved it, I knew it.

Every now and then, I caught her looking at me like she was daring herself, and I realized I was doing the same thing. She curled into my side easily and rested one hand on my stomach like it belonged there. Her thumb traced slow circles through my shirt in a lazy motion that wasn’t subtle. I let my hand drift under the hem of her blouse and rest on warm skin while my thumb mirrored hers.

She shifted closer and her breath caught as the tension between us stretched tight enough to hum. “You’re going to have to kiss me now,” she said.

I smiled. “Gladly.”

I kissed her soft. It deepened quickly as our mouths opened and the heat rushed in all at once. She rolled toward me with her leg sliding over my hip, and her fingers gripping my collar like she needed more than she was getting.

I groaned low before I could stop myself. “Fuck, Addison.”

“God, you’re so hot.” She breathed.

My hands moved on instinct, one settling at her waist while the other slid higher under her blouse to touch her skin. She was warm and soft beneath my fingers, and I wanted to learn every inch of her.

She climbed into my lap with a breathy, wrecked little “please” and her hips rocked once before she stilled like she had surprised herself with how good it felt. I gripped her thighs and her ass and pulled her closer. “God, baby,” I breathed while my mouth moved along her jaw and down her throat. “You taste so good.”

She made a soft needy sound and reached for the hem of my shirt while tugging at it like she couldn’t stand the barrier anymore.

“Can I—” she started before swallowing. “Can you take this off?”

I went still, not pulling away but grounding us. I looked up at her properly, really taking in the flush in her cheeks and the way her chest rose like she was bracing herself.

“Are you sure?” I asked quietly.

She didn’t hesitate, just nodded. “I’m so sure.” Her voice shaking while her eyes stayed locked on mine. Her hands stayed fisted in my shirt like she was afraid I would disappear if she let go. “I have to be up for work at five,” she continued, breathless but steady, “so you can’t fuck me tonight, but I want to feel you. I want to see you. I want to stay right here and not pretend this isn’t happening.”

Something in my chest gave way. “Okay,” I said quietly. “We stay right here.”
